I really wish I could give this game a positive recommendation, as Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite classic RPGs. I've played all of the other versions (SNES, PS1, DS, and iOS). However,

CONS

- Not all cutscenes appear in this version (which was the primary reason I bought it). The first cutscene I encountered was meeting Ayla for the first time, but the ones prior to this did not appear for me

- Square applied a terrible bilinear filter which blurs the sprites, making it look similar to HQ2X or HQ4X on emulators. It's awful. If they had to apply a filter, I would have preferred they used a CRT filter to make it look like the original SNES version, since the majority of people are buying this out of nostalgia

- Some sound effects make weird beeps and boops

- Personal preference, but Ted Woolsey's translation seemed better to me

- Button challenges (like the old ZABIE code in the factory) cuase an ugly touchscreen pop up menu to show up. This clearly wasn't removed from the smartphone port, and it looks terrible.

PROS

- It's Chrono Trigger

- Modders have created some tools to display the game in CRT and remove bilinear filtering, which vastly improves this version of the game

- The cutscenes that actually do work look very nice on the big screen, and this version is faster than running it on a PS1

- Digital liner notes and extra wallpapers were a great addition!

Overall, I can't recommend this product simply because Square didn't care enough to make sure all of the cutscenes were included or that QA had been done properly before release. They claim that this isn't a mobile port, but it clearly is. They knowingly released this unfinished port to their most loyal fans. Modders should not have to do the hard work (for free) of fixing their mistakes.

If you want to try Chrono Trigger for the first time, pick it up on DS or SNES, this is not the best version of the game out there.

Ahhh! This game is so awesome! If you're fan of the old Sierra or LucasArts adventure games, this one feels like it never left the late 80's/early 90's (even though it takes place in 1987). I can't say enough good things about this game. There are TONS of references that you'll only get if you grew up in the era, and it's really hilarious. Most of all, I'm really impressed with how the creators got the old-school feel down. Very authentic, super smart and funny writing. Play it on Hard mode, there are a few story extras and paths you'll only see if you take the more difficult route.

I can't recommend this game enough! If you're a fan of old school, isometric cRPGs, welcome home! Pillars of Eternity is very much like Divinity: Original Sin, except with a more streamlined character creation system and with a more interesting story/setting.

Hands down, this is the best RPG i've played in the past couple of years. If you're into RPGs that are very story-heavy and have detailed fantasy worlds, this is the game for you. If possible, I recommend getting the Royal Edition because the world and its history are so vast that it's nice to be able to read the extra digital books to get a better understanding of the game's world and its cultures. It's not necessary to enjoy the game, but it is very fascinating and helps you get the most out of it.

Easily GOTY, 10/10!

I absolutely love this game! Fallout 3 is probably one of my top ten RPGs, ever. Great post-apocalyptic 1950's setting, a dark sense of humor, and lots of replayability. If you're torn between Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3, try Fallout 3 first, it's a better introduction to the series.

This game is really, really good! If you're a fan of Quest for Glory and the old Sierra adventure games, you will LOVE this one. I haven't experienced anything like this since QFG back in the 90's. Great writing, attention to detail in terms of getting the old school point and click genre right, and I am surprised that it's currently free. Would gladly pay for a game this great, you can tell the developers really captured the essence of the old classics in this release.

Love this game! Great design, true open sandbox. The ability to choose your character's race and background makes it super interesting.
