Years ago, I remember playing Halo Reach where you're in fighting in a Sabre in outer space. It was the first time a Halo game featured space combat. That was an awesome level! It reminded me of the hours I would spend playing Galaga as a kid. I realized that I loved space shooters and wanted to play more of them. Sadly, Halo never gave us any further space combat levels. And the space shooter genre is underrated with too few good games. Google 'space shooter games' and you get trashy mobile apps on the first page. Major game companies--even EA which has released many Star Wars games--haven't created many AAA space games in the current generation.

Everspace, developed by indie studios Rockfish Games, is a perfect modern entry that scratched my space shooter itch. The game has great graphics that capture the beauty of space, kickass gameplay that suits many playstyles, challenging AI that make every dogfight a thrill along with a so-so soundtrack (too much rock for my tastes). The achievements are doable and not much of a grind. (Do get the Encounters DLC because the game is half as fun without that.)

Tips for beginners: Many beginning players quit because the game is too hard. I say stick with the game. Ever seen 'Edge of Tomorrow'? Live, die, repeat? That's how you play Everspace. It is a roguelike game where you die a lot and that's okay. Make sure to farm credits and invest them in good perks (check the Steam guides). During battles, have a good and consistent strategy to deal with enemies. Knowing how to use devices and consumables well is half the battle. Most importantly, keep an eye on the health gauge. Losing too much HP? GTFO then. Always have a foolproof exit strategy when you need to escape. Go invisible, teleport, deploy drones, doesn't matter, get out! It's not worth losing half your HP getting shot at from multiple directions.

Overall, Everspace is a good game worth playing.

Fun game. Haven't played the other Borderlands games--I'm assuming they have better gameplay? But I love BL1 because of the crazy characters (esp. Moxxxi), the dry and dark humor, the ultraviolent setting and of course that sweet loot. BL's art style is pretty great and unique as well.

My gripes with the game is the enemy scaling system which is confusing from Playthrough 1 to 2. You're often too overleveled for the enemies which sucks. Speaking of DLCs, all of them are fun but dreary at times. Achievement hunters should know that all DLCs have boring collection quests (collect 50/100/200 items for achievement). That's still tolerable compared to the 20 rounder fights in the Mad Moxxxi DLC. I have never felt more exhausted and empty trying to get an achievement (I did it solo)! It honestly wasn't worth it if you ask me.

Conclusion: BL1 shows its age being a game from the early 2000s. It's fun but I won't replay it to be honest. I get the feeling that BL2 & 3 are better games worth playing. Fin.

Although this is the first Arkham game in the series, it still holds up 10 years later. It is amazing to think that this game came out in 2009. God does it still feel good to punch baddies and solve crimes! Tells you how good this game really is. Arkham is hands down the best superhero game series; Spiderman doesn't even come close!

I'm not gonna lie, I hated Arkham Asylum the first time I played it. My computer was too crappy to support the graphics at the time and that impacted my experience. Besides, the soundtrack was decent but too gloomy. This time around, with a better computer and age, I enjoyed Arkham Asylum much more. Revisiting the game as an adult gave me a new respect for the game. Granted: the gameplay experience still falls short, especially in the combat sections. And you'll hate some of the predator maps and miss some of the gadgets from the later games (someone should make a mod for that). But you still feel like Batman despite the limitations.

The biggest plus point surprisingly for me was the shortness of Arkham Asylum. Most people would see it as a downside to play a game with a single setting that you can finish in 6+ hours. But Arkham Asylum gives me that short, focused and sweet experience that I loved. I really hate modern games for their collectible filler content. Get this item along with 1000 more to get that one achievement: screw that! Games just get longer while I get busier IRL.

I replayed this game because Windows Live shut down and I lost my achievements. I'm happy I did that. 8/10

TL;DR: Okay game for Deus Ex fans, better for new players, main campaign way too small and feels unfinished, sidequests and DLCs are dope, Breach is microtransaction cancer, game is a horror for 100% completionists

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a decent cyberpunk title. Some reviewer below said you'd love the game if you went in with no expectations. I thought about it a little and I agree. I went into Mankind Divided as a cyberpunk games fan and veteran. I was expecting at least a Human Revolution like experience. I will always have a soft spot for Human Revolution. What's not to love about that game? Mystery, conspiracy, intrigue, sleek cybernetics, immersive world, boss battles (unpopular opinion I know), satisfying game mechanics (creep up on NPC, press punch button, micro-cutscene: Adam taps NPC on shoulder, Huh? goes NPC, turns around, BOOM! cyborg knuckle sandwich, KO!) amazing ambient synth-techno music. It's hard not to love DX:HR. We all have games/books that define our love and expectations for a genre. DX:HR did that for me and cyberpunk.

I went into Mankind Divided wanting a Human Revolution like game. And MD sucks at that. Yes, the gameplay mechanics and graphics feel better. But the other things not so much. One of my primary gripes is the small scope of the game. There are limited levels/maps in Mankind Divided. You spend hours on ONE map--the city of Prague--wandering the same streets, facing the same NPCs yammering 'Aug', 'Clank' 'Cyberhoe' and other androiphobic ♥♥♥♥. What's up with Czech people: why can't they check the hate? Smh. I hate Prague so much because of Mankind Divided--I don't want to go there in real life!

The game is too much of a slow burn that never challenges you. You feel so bored until you reach the sidequests. That's where the real magic of this game is! Mankind Divided really shines with its sidequests--it hits the stride of a Deus Ex game. Unfortunately, they are SIDEquests so you're once again back to the drudgery of the main campaign. You plod on until you reach the climax which is..so unfinished and unfulfilling. You feel like there should be more but nope, Act II is The End.

That's about as much as I comment on the base game. The single-player DLCs are much, much better. Prague felt more fun in System Rift and the Criminal Past is just wow: a worthy Deus Ex game in its own right. I'd recommend playing them if you don't like the core Mankind Divided experience.

Last word: avoid Breach. Multiplayer is fun and had so much potential. But Square Enix did an EA and stuffed it full of microtransactions. This ruined Breach and made it a nightmare for a completionist like me. See the hours I have on DX:MD? Good chunk of that went into grinding for multiplayer achievements. I know, I'm an idiot. But don't be like me and waste time on Breach. Completionists should steer clear of Mankind Divided for getting 100%.

Rating: Never asked for this but it's 70% okay/10

It's a good Halo game. Maybe it's not the core experience but it's pretty fun to play, esp. in short bursts. The mechanics feel better than the previous game in this series. Achievements are easy to get so I recommend this game for completionists.

One small pet peeve with this game is that the top-down perspective makes aiming difficult using a console controller. Kb+m use is okay but not ideal.

Overall, an okay game that is worth a quick play.

Plants vs Zombies is a great tower defense game! Indie creativity at its finest from the 2000s. I think the game's strongest element is the soundtrack. I've never had this much fun listening to the end-game credits!

Although PvZ is a mobile game, there are no microstransactions, loot boxes etc. Just buy the game and play!

The game is a grind. Farming for money is not too hard. Hunting for achievements, esp. that sweet 100%, is where the game gets ridiculous (this is a mobile game after all). You have to play the entire game twice (second time is harder because of preset choices). You also have to save money to spend on many items. This is where the fun goes out of the window.

I'd recommend this game for a first time playthrough as well as for replay value. The mini-games and puzzles are fun to do as well. I'd take a pass on 100% achievement hunting though.

This game may not be AAA grade like the Arkham games. But it is a much more immersive experience than, well, Arkham Knight. You really get to be Batman rather than Batmobile Man in Telltale's game.

PROS:
*Great story. Loved how well fleshed out the Telltale Gotham world is! DC fans deserve good games like this.
Like I said, you feel like Batman instead of Batmobile Man. The interaction with Gotham allies and villains is impressive: dialogue is crisp, plot is well-paced etc.
MEHS:
*It's an interactive movie. Therefore it is not everyone's cup of gamer fuel. But if you are a Batfan, you should give it a try. Worth a one-time play.

Cons:
*Linear story. Choices don't matter. For a mid-budget game like this, Telltale should have emphasized choice and consequences.
*Game can stutter for Nvidia users. It's not game-breaking but it is annoying when it happens.
*Quick! Press 👍Yes below! Do it NAO! 3,2...YOU DED, GAME OVAH, TRY AGAIN. QTEs suck! And Batman - The Telltale Series is full of them and yes, they come from nowhere! Look, I'm not a gamer against QTEs. I think game devs have never bothered to innovate on this mechanic. QTEs can be enjoyable: maybe have an audio or visual cue to warn players beforehand? QTEs are hands down the worst part of this game.

Was hesitant about getting this. But it's so worth the buy! Gorgeous live wallpapers and, what's more, a dedicated community that is still making content for everything from audio responsive to mini-game wallpapers! And oh, you can create your own wallpapers--even simple ones where you upload your videos to play in the desktop background.

One minor quibble is that you have to hide the desktop icons or else the overall look is unsightly. Perhaps devs can find a solution to this?

Absolutely amazing game! 'Shadow of Mordor' captures what House of Cards would feel like as a videogame. The protagonist Talion is an undead Ezio Auditore meets Frank Underwood you're glad to have on your side. He slaughters, mutilates, manipulates and mind-controls Orcs in his bloody quest to fight evil. The Nemesis System is the redeeming element behind 'Shadow of Mordor': take it out of the game and what you have is a Prince of Persia clone. The Nemesis system elevates the Orcs you fight from being faceless slaughter fodder. You actually care about your Orcish allies and enemies: you learn their names, ambitions, fears/hates/weaknesses. You feel joy when you plan and kill a hard-to-beat Captain or Warchief, you root for the ones who becomes your allies. I don't think any Middle-Earth book, game etc. made me care about Orcs this much! Seriously, you'll like the Orcs way more than the human characters in this game (except for Torvin--but then again, he is a dwarf).

The story is a decent vengeance tale--it's a good appetizer to the stellar gameplay. I particularly liked the tense dynamic between Talion and his wraith ally Celembrimbor--wonder how the next game will deal with the two!

I have two complaints with this game. Firstly, I think the campaign was a little short. In particular, I wish they had stretched out the final battle and made it more epic-the end fight with Sauron felt anticlimactic. Secondly, Talion becomes overpowered as you invest in abilities and runes. The game is very difficult at first but it loses its challenge as your powers advance. There are also way too many powers you have and not enough incentive to use them all and well in battle.

Overall, I rate this game a 8/10.
