Dog ahead!

Jokes aside, this is a step back from the amazing Fromsoft games we had until now.
I bothered writing this because I love Elden Ring and the DLC felt kind of cheap.

-World Exploration is very bad.

When you step inside the DLC you already have +10/+25 weapons, fully upgraded healing flasks and a high enough level with a mostly complete build. There is no meaningful and worthwhile loot you can find here besides the new weapons and spells. You will find lots of upgrade materials, crafting materials and cookbooks. Upgrading materials can be bought from the base game easily. Crafting is boring and tedious in this game and it just dilutes the loot pool. I am not going to run around like a dumbass for 20 mins collecting materials just to throw some rot pots. The only item that raised any feelings of joy in me were the Scadutree Fragments, which permanently upgrade player damage and defence while inside the DLC world. Revered Spirit Ashes upgrade your Spirit Ashes summons, but I hate using this mechanic and so this item didn't exist for me.

The separate zones inside the world look incredible 12/10 artistically, but they are too big and contain too little from a gameplay perspective. Their purpose seems to be looked at while riding you trusted Torrent for 10 minutes straight. I would much rather have a smaller world filled with interesting stuff, like in the Dark Souls games.

Exploration felt very boring to me.

Legacy dungeons were very good, especially Shadow Keep.

-Enemies

The enemy variety is very lacking. The world is full of shadow peasant enemies everywhere you look, and I am tired of seeing them. They don't do much and look as if they don't even have a texture. There are also many creatures from the base game present here, from rats and dogs to dragons and deathbirds. I fought enough dragons in the base game and got sick of them, who thought it would be a good idea to add more?

The Furnace Golem would be a decent enemy, if you fought it only once. This thing is reused 6 or 7 times and it takes so long to beat that doing it more than once feels like torture. I beat 2 or 3 of them and skipped the rest.

Please Fromsoft, I love you so much, stop reusing enemies and bosses like this! Focus on quality instead of quantity and your game will be 10 times better.

-Bosses

Boss thematic, art style, lore 10/10.

Now, about gameplay: hard but fair, fun to fight and learn.

This is not how the bosses in the DLC are. Most of them don't ever give you time to heal, they have infinite combos, huge damage and feel cheap and artificial. Why is a huge 500 kg hippo as quick as a cat, why is this boar's charge attack undodgeable? Why does it feel like the boss purposefully delays his attack by 2 seconds just to roll catch me? Why does 1 hit from a boss combo stun me so I can't dodge the rest and I die from full hp?

The bosses are designed to be artificially difficult because the base game gives the players too many broken strategies like Spirit Ashes, Mimic Tear, crazy spells like comet Azur with infinite mana from the Wondorous Physick, etc, and classic, fair dark souls bosses don't cut it anymore. Fromsoft needed to make the DLC challenging for everyone.
Guess what, I don't like using these broken gimmicks and I don't like to summon. I want to engage with the bosses fully, master their moveset and parry them to death if I can. And I did, but it took me too much time dying to cheap tricks before I learned the fights.

What is even more frustrating is that the camera movement still sucks in some big boss fights, it gets stuck inside walls or inside the boss itself, and the final boss has so much visual clutter that I can't properly see what attack it does when.

Even with all this artificial difficulty and cheapness, the bosses are still better than the exploration which bored me to death.

-Lore

It is interesting and answers many questions while raising others, but I really expected more.
Where is my Gloam-Eyed Queen? At least one item or two...

I will still recommend the DLC because it is still miles better compared to most other games, even with all its shortcomings.

I hope Fromsoft learns from this and goes back to making 10/10 gaming and artistic experiences.

I could write thousands of words about this game, but I will keep it short.

I had big expectations. I don't know how, but this game surpassed them big time.
Elden Ring's world totally captivated me, I felt like a kid again.
It does everything I love about the souls games but better, and is very accessible to new players.

Buy it and play blindly, enjoy a true adventure!

The game looks incredible 11/10. That's it.

The story is generic fantasy, I found it uninteresting skipped everything.

As for gameplay, you just go from quest to quest, talk to random npcs, walk, kill 4 creeps and go back to finish. The game would be much better if you could just fight a lot of enemies instead, since it is action oriented. This is why the dungeons were a bit fun.

Classes and skills might be interesting, but I oneshot everything and the mobs barely do damage to me, so there isn't any reason to strategize.

The game might get better and challenging later on, but I won't play hours upon hours of park walk simulator just to get to the interesting part, if any.

I wanted to play Lost Ark for years, but in the end I was disappointed. It could have been so much better.
