Pretty decent Assassins Creed-esque stealth/combat RPG. There isn't much fanservice for Lord of the Rings fans, but Shadow of Mordor is a good game in its own right. The various unlockable abilities make combat interesting, at least for the first half of the game. The enemy hierarchy is also fun to play with: discovering and exploiting chieftain weaknesses, or removing specific orcs to promote your favored orc up the hierarchy. After the first half of the game, combat becomes significantly easier (I'm looking at you, Combat Brand) since you've levelled up to the point of making the game too easy. Other than that, SoM offers hours of great gameplay running around Middle Earth beating up orcs.

Brilliant game. The Dark Souls series is always flamed for being infamously hard, but in the end it all comes down to discovering strategies to overcome the numerous (41 including the DLCs!) bosses. DS2 is great fun for both serious and casual gameplay (I've spent more than a few hours hunting down cool-looking armor sets to cosplay with). The combat system is intricate and offers a lot of variation and personalization once you get used to it. Online gameplay is unique in the DS series, and DS2 does a fantastic job of incorporating PvP and coop gameplay into the single-player experience.

Literally the best game in existence (Thanks, Derek Yu). The learning curve is as steep as the Grand Canyon, but once you get over it, Spelunky has a lot of depth in terms of interactions and environments. Took me about 300 deaths before I first beat the game, and I cannot express how proud I was. 10/10 would absolutely recommend for anyone willing to put in some time.
