A mediocre game that was made by exploiting young artists and coders. Avoid.

A janky, low budget Slay the Spire. The presentation is terrible, with annoying voice acting and ugly character art. Battles feel very random, with no real way to gauge what the enemy will do.

But the game's main flaw is how ridiculously underpowered you are at the beginning of the game. A roguelike should be beatable on your first run, but this game makes you grind through dozens of incremental upgrades just to have a fair shot at winning. This fundamentally doesn't work with a roguelike, since it forces you to play the beginning levels over and over regardless of how good you are. Having to restart this grind for each character just multiplies the effect, and strongly discourages players from experimenting with different characters.

Best point and click game ever. Incredibly vibrant, funny, and weird.

Ridiculously replayable--every run feels fresh. I'm constantly amazed by the complexity and balance of its systems. It's the definitive deckbuilding roguelike.

This is Draknek's best work yet. As always, they tease difficult, interesting puzzles out of simple rule sets. But what sets this game apart is its exhaustive exploraton into every unexpected quirk that arises from its rules. Throughout the many dozens of puzzles here, I was constantly surprised by the variation and elegance of the solutions. Only a handful of other puzzle games, such as Stephen's Sausage Roll and The Witness, have investigated an idea so thoughtfully and thoroughly.

GoNNER is a criminally underrated Roguelike with a gorgeous psychedelic aesthetic and engaging gameplay. Similarly to the Bit.Trip games, GoNNER's music and visuals become more complex and vivid as your combo goes up. This system does a great job of keeping the music interesting, and really adds to the frenzied excitement of trying to hold onto a combo.

More importantly, GoNNER is just really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. I love the satisfaction of bulldozing through cute monsters in caves and islands, trying to perfectly skirt the line between combo-destroying slowness and reckless speed.

Even though I almost always wait for sales, I wholeheartedly recommend this bizarro game at full price.
