CHOO CHOO!
Personal Impression: Even though its clearly meant for VR and I played it in desktop mode, this game hooked me instantly. Beautiful scenery, big machinery, hands on controls with dedicated levers and switches. a wide variety of music and a satisfying sound design for machine and nature overall. Its a work of passion.

Controls: Its easy to get into and the slightly simplified train controls still have enough complexity to require you to think what they do, before you touch 'em. Simulation: Theres a whole lot of physics going on under the hood.
It enforces discipline: mistakes can easily cause a runaway train or explosion, but in most cases: you get rewarded for your mistakes with a grand firework dependant on the cargo and a suffocating depth.

Size: The current content, as of build 97, is completed in around 30 hours for first timers that take it easy. the current map has a good size but does not have actual long stretches and is a pure mountain region. it takes some memorisation and skill to master. The Roadmap for DLCs promises an NA style combination of terrain and trains.

Conclusion: Even though everything screams at me to cause explosions, I find myself playing it seriously. sometimes imposing challenges on myself.

Noteworthy: it has cats and they can relief themselves...
