Screen's too dark, and no setting control option readily available to swap keybindings. Controls are counter-intuitive. USABLE menus not visible on HUD. Minimap fails to show when danger (or anything else, like loot) is near.
I really want to like this game, I really do, but this is an incredibly rough draft that was rushed out.

Game is designed to become a microtransaction machine. Sure, it can be fun, but ultimately...it's not "free".
And the special events? Every time you get close to being in the top 6 the game kicks you. I have yet to be top dog. And the odds of a speedster being able to knock out over 2000pts of armor in 1 shot? NOT POSSIBLE, but it's happened 3 times to me.
The AI in this game is utterly ridiculous. 1)From 1/2 a map away they can shoot through a quarter-sized hole in a wall. 2) AI shots ALWAYS blow out 1/2 your armor, regardless of the size of your or it's vehicle. 3) When AI plays the server screws with your shots: your dead-on closeup shot should straightline in, but not against AI, no no no Your perfect shot will arc over towards the target, like a slow-pitched softball either missing completely or giving the target a chance to move.
TLDR: have your wallet open...no really: it feels like the odds are literally stacked against you if you aren't spending money to play. Plus, the insistence on using AI without player's choice is really messing this game up.

Do NOT, repeat NOT, purchase this unless you've had friends play this before and are willing to carry you until you "get gud".
First thing you do when you get into any new game is take the tutorial, right? Well, the basic ship this game supplies you with is worthless, to say the least...I'd almost rather punch trees to create wood.
Do they teach you how to sail? No; that tutorial is locked...until you "get gud".
Well, shooting cannons is fun, right? Not in THIS first tutorial. I've never seen a masted sailing ship go BACKWARDS before, especially when I'm pressing the "W" button as hard as I can. Doesn't matter if you "get gud". 4 tries of the same scenario and, at best, I guess (?) I knocked off 1/2 a rudder and damaged most of the target's port side...in 6 minutes. Most of the time I was trying to steer (backwards, mind you) away from big billowing clouds of smoke so I could see the target...Mind you, this was SUPPOSED to be a tutorial, not a battle simulation.
Finally I figured out the tutorials aren't worth the headache, and I found I could spend 10 minutes of real time watching my 8 gun vessel travel across the Caribbean Sea to the very next island for 1...whole...XP... Apparently 45 XP gets you the next upgrade...So, that's what, 4 hours of real time for the smallest upgrade??? . HowabbouttabigbaggaNO.
Missions...there's GOTTA be missions, right? Sure, I'll grit my teeth for an hour to see what passenger milkruns I can do. Yeah, except as soon as you get out of your protected harbor to fulfill your mission, SOMEONE in a 5 deck tall, 60 gun behemoth goes spawn hunting and apparently newbs can't f&^%$#@!g break his targetting systems and you're stuck in battle you didn't look for until YOU ARE DEAD.
Oh, by the way, since your ship is sunk, you don't have a ship, and you get stuck at some port until *cha ching* you come up with money to buy property to set up a business to make money...that's okay, I like to craft, except you can't hire out, you can't MAKE money until you HAVE money...I'm starting to sense microtransaction! HOWABBOUTTABIGBAGGANO.
Well, basic ships are SUPPOSED to be free at all times. I couldn't access one, and I don't care to hear the reasoning.
I'm glad this game was free from Steam, because I'm going to delete it, and try again in about 5 years to see if it's improved.
