I cannot recommend the game at its current state.

Gameplay-wise, so far so good. The animations hit hard and feel good too.

Unfortunately, the game is running at a constant 20 frames per second. Before you say that I just need a better computer, I put this ♥♥♥♥ on Ultra-Performance with EVERYTHING on low and nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING changed. I don't understand what's happening or why it's happening, but until they bother optimizing this game, STAY AWAY.

Before I start this review, I need to make something known. I HATE Battle Royales. I cannot stand them. Every time a new one comes out, I try it for a few hours to see if I like it because I want my mind to be changed. The only game that was close to doing that was Rumbleverse, may it rest in peace. I also really dislike League of Legends (for so many reasons I couldn't possibly list all of them in this review).

With all of that said, I love this game. The devs very clearly put a lot of love and care into every single pixel of it and it shows. The gameplay, character designs, audio design, voice acting, all of it is made with passion and purpose. The devs are also quite vocal, listening to player feedback and even responding to reviews like this!

There is a bit of criticism I would like to say, however. Sometimes the screen can be a bit cluttered with all of the effects happening on the screen, so much so that it's hard to tell what's happening. Additionally, is there any way to include TRIOs into the game?

TLDR; Even if you don't like Battle Royales like me, play this game.

This really is a one-of-a-kind game, something I've always wanted and have been waiting for for as long as I can remember.

You are not a hero. You are another cog in the machine. With that said, however, every contribution matters. Every kill made, every trench dug, every crate of supplies delivered.

I can see this game appealing to quite a number of people. For those looking to fight in the frontlines, this game has you covered. For those wanting just to create and transport supplies to those frontlines whilst listening to the Death Stranding soundtrack, this game also has you covered. The community is quite nice as well, eager to teach and help wherever needed.

I think this game is 100% worth the $30 asking price.

A lot of people are comparing this game to Neon White. They shouldn't be.

Yes, this game has you kill a set number of enemies with an emphasis on speed, but other than that, it is nothing like Neon White. While Neon White is more like a first-person puzzle game/platformer, I Am Your Beast is a first-person shooter without any ambiguity.

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the game! I Am Your Beast is a pretty good game with solid gunplay and GREAT music! The voice acting is also top notch, both in-game and during cutscenes. Though the cutscenes are quite minimal in presentation, the performances alone make up for it.

Let's talk about the bad, now. The story, while interesting, feels like it finishes much too early. It's disappointing because it is quite interesting and has some likable characters. For the gameplay, you will VERY often times find yourself looking for the last enemy. The mini-map mediates this problem to a certain extent, but it's not a perfect solution. Additionally, when you get kills, the game has impact shakes that stop the game for half a second. While they do add to the dopamine rush you get from clicking heads, they sometimes break the flow and leave you overcorrecting.

All in all, I Am Your Beast is a good game that could do with some further polishing in both story and gameplay and a way for me to inject the soundtrack directly into my veins.

This game takes the combat system of the old Budokai Tenkaichi games and fine tunes it with a sparkling finish. If you're here for the combat, you'll REALLY enjoy this game.

However, I cannot say the same about the piss-poor story mode in this game. Unless you are playing the what-if scenarios, I cannot recommend the episodes for either newcomers to Dragon Ball or longtime enjoyers. It really does feel like they put all of their effort into the combat of this game, which is most likely the best possible outcome.

That being said, and this needs to be said, how the ♥♥♥♥ is there no countermeasure for people lag switching?! Half the online matches I've played in this game have been people intentionally disconnecting their internet for a moment and reconnecting it so that they can achieve super-human speed the likes of which even Dragon Ball characters would blush at. If not taken care of, this problem could become rampant and even destroy quite a bit of the playerbase.

One more thing, though it's more of a personal issue of mine, compared to the older Budokai Tenkaichi, the impact on some of the supers and ultimates is so lackluster that you'd think you were hitting your opponent with a wet paper towel. So many slowdowns in almost every single one of them to show off specific frames and references (I get it, but if all of the references take away from the impact of the move, then I don't see much point in them being there).

TLDR; Combat-wise, this game is a worthy successor to the Budokai Tenkaichi series. However, if you're a newcomer that wants to get into the story, this game does a terrible job of that. Get this on sale ($70 for any game is a damn joke).

A delightfully charming game!

A short, fun experience with a lot of heart put into it. Though, if you're not careful, you'll be cleaning pieces of that heart off the walls.

Give it a play!

Imagine "Escape from Tarkov," but it's fantasy, mostly melee, and the devs don't wanna step on your balls.

I mean... they do. But it feels good the way they do it.

This game has ruined every other FPS for me, and I couldn't be happier.
