I used to play a lot of HAWKEN and I haven't been able to play it again ever since it was since ported over to console a couple years ago. But Titanfall 2 manages to scratch the same itch that HAWKEN does (you know, fast-paced mechshooter kind of thing). So I am very satisfied with my purchase, despite the fact that I need to have the EA app installed just to play it (and relax, it is playable even without the Northstar client, too).
One tip from HAWKEN that applies here is this:
"If we stick together, we live. If we split up, we die."

Comparing this to smash is like comparing fingercounting to a TI-82 graphic calculator.
But it scratches the same itch that smash does, and it's free.
So, go ahead and try it.

If someone asked me why I bought this game, I would say that nostalgia is a powerful drug. Since I used to play this a lot as a teenager, I have fond memories of running around in the jungle with my AR or looking for the fabled golden AKs. Good times.
Buy it.

You should also know before buying that this game is buggy on newer computers. Turn on Vsync and a lot of the problems will go away. As for the dlc content, it's available at the start of the game. You will also get a product code. That code is probably for the multiplayer, though the servers are pretty empty from what I've read.

This game literally ascended from a dumb first person shooter where you pee on things to an epic tale about a man with severe head trauma looking for his dog.
Also, I discovered r/gonewild thatnks to this game.

Absolute gem of a game.
Buy it/10

Imagine...

Fallout: New Vegas without the talking.
Fallout: New Vegas with more guns.
Telltale Games with better graphics and sound.
Telltale Games where you can go where ever you want.

And you got Borderlands.
