Can't recommend this game in its current state. It has a lot of interesting elements that make it more than just "'Squad' in WWII", but as of now, Post Scriptum suffers from serious issues that Squad has either grown out of or directly fixed.

-lots of "early development" game quirks
-server stability is poor
-you are likely to sit in a ten minute waiting list to get into the only populated server 6/7 days of the week, but I wouldn't be writing this review if it weren't for the next item on this list.

-games (on the one active server) are poorly coordinated somewhat often.
For large map/objective-based shooters, this is a problem that can't be ignored because it *objectively ruins the game* . When teams don't work together, when squads aren't communicating or being lead, players will find themselves forced into uneventful treks across vast and empty landscapes- only to risk dying from an unseen enemy and repeating the process. The game won't flow properly, there will be no action. You can spread more than a thousand players across the maps in this game and you still wouldn't be able to find anyone. There must be co-ordination.
*Squad* side-steps this problem entirely by maintaining a large and dedicated community. There are dozens of populated servers to choose from no matter what day or time. Many servers will strictly enforce teamwork to make sure that games run as intended and are enjoyed by everyone.

I repeat myself. The main issue I listed is enough to discourage you or anyone from playing. It is the one fatal design flaw that absolutely must be fixed in order for a game like this to succeed. If it isn't fixed, then you're not playing the game advertised to you on this steam page. You won't be playing Post Scriptum at all, you'll just spend an hour walking around an empty WW2 themed battlefield, doubting your sanity, almost certain you joined a server with 79 people in it. This game has lots of "potential". Like most games, it needs more work and a push to get rolling.

*One last mention is for the optimization. It's either quite awful, or they are flat out lying about the recommended system requirements. I matched the recommended specs almost exactly and I cant even maintain above 50 fps on all low. This game looks like liquid garbage and runs horribly on my pc, while Squad runs smooth as butter, looks great, and manages this with TWENTY more supported players in a server. (with constant hectic action happening throughout)

Man, Sandstorm has had an absolute laundry list of issues since launch that have continued into today. Before I get into that I need say these devs must have been on cocaine to assume a sequel can simply go from a recommended system requirement of:
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Video card 2048 MB or more
Hard Drive: 10 GB HD space on a SSD

to a RECOMMENDED system requirement of

Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 (3.20GHz)/AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (3.20GHz)
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/AMD Radeon R9 390X
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 40 GB available space
Additional Notes: SSD is recommended.

At the time of release this was around a 2000$ rig- with these specs Sandstorm will look AND run worse than than it's predecessor running on a high school library computer. The only thing gained with this massive leap in technology are bigger (not better) maps with a larger player count. Other than that, there is absolutely NOTHING about this game that could be remotely considered an improvement from the standalone. As im editing this review in 2024, there is still less content. Less maps, no hollow points, armor system is shell of itself, and the visual design/overall aesthetics are boring and generic no matter how many fancy guns and character skins they add.

Also... THERE IS NO STEAM WORKSHOP.
The extensive support for community content that Insurgency once enjoyed no longer exists in Sandstorm- if that's not the biggest downgrade a video game can possibly get then I don't know what is.

The beautiful weapon handling animations and sound design exist in this game like lipstick on a pig.

The maps are the weakest aspect of this game. There are barely... ANY... MAPS. It's genuinely a pathetic amount for a pvp fps. Mapping is the least resource intensive aspect in making a shooter- and when you support community made content, they take zero resources at all. People love making maps!!! ITS FREE LABOR. There is ALWAYS going to be someone out there with more creativity and free time than studio staff working under a deadline.

The biggest problem with Sandstorm as a followup to insurgency, is the amount of redundancy in the load-out system. The majority of weapons do little to change the way you approach the game, and the amount of other useless ♥♥♥♥ magnifies this issue, i'm talking about devs adding literal meme weapons. I ♥♥♥♥ you not- There is very little consideration needed for what gear you take, 90% if it is pure flavor. As long as you have good aim shoot in their direction first, they will die regardless of the calber of your gun or the armor on their body.
What was once an interesting load-out system that brought a unique spin on Counter Strike's "every item has its niche" design has been replaced with "lol have a welrod" and "we are doing a poll to see what your favorite guns are, the most popular choices will be added into the game".

Overall, Sanstorm has been a massive disappointment. At face value, this is STILL a fun shooter, but it's a weaker, monetized, soulless version of something that already exists. Get the original.

Was already a better game than PUBG in early beta, and now even better on release. Most of the negative reviews are absolutely idiotic. People should not be too critical about something they got for FREE.
