i'd give it a 6/10. id wait for a sale to buy this game if you really want to buy it.
i feel bad as i write this, because its really depressing. its a pretty markedly unambitious attempt to make a game in the same vein as Dead Space. in terms of execution, the game is very average, front-heavy, and repetitive. there's some - but little - depth to it. the game is decent, and i don't hate the game, but it isn't good, and there are a litany of reasons why.

first ill tell you that the graphics are very good, and the sets, enemies, etc are very detailed. the sound design is also very good. alltogether, especially with the very good inclusion of photo mode, makes the game pretty visually stunning.

now, i'll tell you why i dont really recommend the game.
the main issue i have is that the game fails to build any new bridges, opting to cross directly and very noticeably over nearly the exact same ground of the previous games glenn schofield worked on. they wanted to make a game just like dead space, they told you so, and it shows: you are basically going to be doing the exact same stuff you'd be doing in the dead space remake, but with less depth. you will be stomping corpses for items, you will be crawling through vents (with nearly the same animation), you will be doing quicktime events, there will be pretty generic jumpscares, the health bar is almost exactly the same, the GRP is mechanically the same as stasis, dead space tagline 'shoot the limbs/shoot the tentacles' plastered over every wall, teligious cult seeking to use/spread the infection, and there is even the 1 for 1 falling through the sky QTE from dead space 2. it does all these things without being as interesting or nuanced as dead space.


these things individually arent really so bad but alltogether create a pretty boring experience. its a pretty shameless rehash of dead space that cant stand on its own two feet. i think there was something good being built here, but something must've broken along the way, and this is what remains. it's sad, their talented and clearly very interested team clearly did put a lot of work into it here, but something went wrong on the executive level

good game if you like things like watching grass grow, visiting the special olympics, being asleep, etc

if you like breaking lots of things and being hostile to the government this is the game for you

easily, without a doubt, the worst running game i have in my entire library. the game runs so absolutely abraisively terribly bad that i think it should be a felony to sell it. there is so much brain damage at EA that the whole company should be forced to wear a surgeon generals warning. years ago someone told Electronic Arts executives that everyone loved terribly optimized and poorly managed games and it believed them. theyve made video games that were immune to high-end GPUs, slow enough to be allowed in special education classrooms, and with big enough file sizes to use the carpool lane. this game's performance will rezone your GPU for strip mining. this game doesnt use your CPU for computing - it uses it for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. this game is an extinction-level event for frame-rate. as soon as you fire this bad boy up, itll spike your framerate into the low power-point presentation level and turn your PC tower into a heap of wrongly-inserted Mr. Potato Head parts.
