Since they've recently (early 2024) added additional DRM, I no longer wish to recommend this game to anyone. With it adds only issues in running the game in general and it has made the game nonfunctional on Steam Deck in specific.

As for the game itself: As someone coming off of playing Monster Hunter: World, it does feel like both a Downgrade, as well as an Improvement. The difficulty, graphics, scope, and depth of what is on display and available in the game has been significantly reduced. Meanwhile character movement, loading, and a few additional options made for both some worthwhile fixes and some fun new toys to play with. That being said, with how the overall design is, I felt the difficulty and options when it came to quests to be lacking. To be honest, I also felt little weight in playing with friends as well because apart from time constraints, I didn't feel like the level of deep or interesting challenge was there.

All in all, a fun game, but until DRM problems that have actively been added have been removed, I can't recommend.

...also remove this from being marked Steam Deck Verified. At this point it is a lie, which is exceptionally important for this series which has been functional on handhelds so long.

Really that's mostly it. The narrative is not exceptionally fleshed out and the horror aspects aren't either. Not completely without merit, but don't think I can recommend to anyone who isn't interested in the map-reading aspect in its own right. If you're interested in something spooky, or deep, or surface level entertaining, or even if you're a history/conspiracy enthusiast who wants to delve more into the Dyatlov Pass Incident... I still can't quite recommend this one.

Fantastic as far as a horror and a narrative game goes.
Was caught up on two different sections because of some unusual choices in the game that left me confused until I looked up what was happening, and a few of the early binary choices in the game are a bit too on the nose that my eyes rolled before making the choice, but apart from that I cannot recommend enough if you are interested in the spook and some sci-fi.

Thought this was just a game I liked from my childhood, but damn it holds up really well.
Props to the voice actors as well, it's a fun time.
(tho perhaps not a challenging time in any way... if you are also an adult at this time)

Profoundly disappointing.
The first game left big shoes to fill as a fantastic narrative game, and while the voice acting and ambiance are still fantastic in this sequel, this game leaves much to be desired.
From the repetitive uninteresting mini-game that you must repeat multiple times, to gating off movement on the map in unfulfilling and time wasting ways, to the characters who, while relatable, fail to meet the story's level of implied depth or a likable level of authenticity.

Not a game without any merit but one that doesn't stick the landing. A failure not due to any large strike but due to a thousand small cuts.

I could write out a lot of things that were bad with the game but to just say the lighter-to-explain ones...

-I experienced an extreme amount of bugs.
-Felt a lot of the core-concepts around exploration and reward amounted to nothing (boring side paths that rewarded you with non-interesting extremely-minor cosmetics).
-Felt the acting was... 'flat' for lack of a better word, with everyone very much acting like they are unimportant stock characters in a video game.
-Story is often bland and predictable. Had figured out several story points well before they happened... which then took forever to reach and weren't enacted well when they showed up anyway.
-The main villain perhaps had an interesting concept, but really just didn't have a good motivation let alone a follow-through, and the big surprise ending seemed like a bad choice overall.
-I felt the ending was... gosh I'm still surprised they thought that was a good idea, better yet, was executed in any competent way.

All-in-all, no bueno.

Overall very functional way to play YuGiOh digitally with the game handling nearly-all the effects with no issue.

That being said, despite how the game itself plays, it also definitively plays as a games-as-a-service model: outfitted with battlepass, login checks, incentives to watch it's banal streaming service, and farming/grinding until you get cards/decks you want. On top of that there only seems to be the ability to essentially join a random match (at your rank) and just about nothing else tier or standard-wise.

If you're itching to play some YuGiOh [especially if you don't have people to play it with] this might be the best way to do it, but it's earned the thumbs down from me.

Couldn't recommend enough.

The game is both extremely relaxing and very engaging.
90% of it involves you just listening to people's stories, inputting a little here-and-there, but the writing (and art and music) are done with enough depth and humor that it I want to delve into it further and further.

I'm sure it's been said before, but grab the game when you can:

I can't say I've enjoyed this game.
Takes a bit under 2 hours [in my case] to play, and if I were to use 1 word to describe the game it would be "tight."

In nearly-all of the trials the game has you solve the puzzle exactly how intended, with the exact timing intended, or you do it again.
Really, that doesn't actually seem bad for a game, that kind of play can be done well (I've enjoyed many where that is the case), but with the way movement works in the game it felt like it turned into trial-and-error with a eventual random success instead of actually overcoming anything due to becoming more skillful and finally doing-it-right.

Really, like most other's here, can't really say the game is bad, but instead of this being the case of a game being "not for me", it really seems more like this game "is full of flaws"... which is weird to say about a game so tightly packed as this one.

Fun, short, charming.

I enjoyed my time with it quite a bit, but I found 1 level super-hard in a "you must do exactly what the devs thought" instead of a "the difficulty is actually any harder" kind of way.

Still, I advise anyone to give it a go, and as soon as it's on sale I'm gonna grab that pancake recipe.
