I think the game is off to a great start and can't wait to get my hands on the upcoming classes/weapons.

I like it a lot so far.

This is now my favorite Sonic game next to SA2. It's a straight upgrade over the original generations and all of Shadow's stages are excellent. The worst part about the game is that there isn't more of it. Shadow's story is pretty good for what it is, and his characterization is the best its been since SA2. They need to keep iterating on this gameplay for future games, they have really perfected 3d sonic gameplay with this one. Now we live in a world where the best 3d Sonic game is actually a Shadow the Hedgehog sequel. What a timeline.

Unironically fantastic. Not a horror game at all but as a third-person shooter it is one of the most fun to actually play. There isn't really anything else that feels quite like it.

I thought it was great when I played it on PS5 and that hasn't changed. I think the story is strong and the combat is well above any other game to come out in the last few years (with the one exception of Hi-Fi Rush). My only issues with the game are that there is no hard mode available until NG+, but if you are finding the game to be too easy you can always just equip weaker gear and not use healing items. I also don't like mid-boss checkpoints, but I'm hoping that can be modded out. Overall I really love this game and have it tied with Armored Core 6 for my 2023 GOTY (Baldur's Gate wasn't for me, sorry).

Fun game

First impressions as someone who grew up with this game: I played it on the ps5 recently, and while I still thought it was a pretty fun game, it was obvious to me that the game was never as good as I thought it was when I was little. With this new port, that holds true to an extent, but what has shocked me so far is how much better this game plays on keyboard and mouse than it ever did on the ps2 or ps5. Now, the original game's shortcomings were never that the controls were super bad, but the game is so much more fun to play on a moment to moment basis on keyboard, that I honestly think this port might just elevate the game to a new level.

Suffice to say that I was not expecting this, and I will update this review after I finish the game, but my first impressions are that my expectations have been blown away by just how good this game feels on keyboard. Only time will tell if that improvement is enough to elevate this game to the kind of experience I had when I was a kid, but I have just a little bit of hope for that now that I didn't going in.

I still feel that I can safely say that anyone who likes the original ps2 version should pick this port up immediately, the pc controls are a straight upgrade. As for anyone who hasn't played the original, I won't be able to say until I finish this playthrough, as the original game could be hard to recommend if you didn't have nostalgia for it. I will update this review when I do.

Good so far

One of the best coop shooters I have played despite backend issues. All of the technical issues are with the servers, the actual game is immaculate in my experience.
