Scottie "Pippin" huh? And twice? Nah son, gotta do better than that.
Honestly this game isn't all bad, but I can't recommend it with the way it's described. It is in no way a "basketball game." Basketball is a theme and plays into the plot, sure, but when you're misspelling the names of hall of famers and and say stuff like "If you can't get into the paint I need you to go and get fouled" or something along those lines, it's clear how much reverence for the sport the creator(s?) really had. Also the idea of 4 quarters being a framing device for the story seems a little inconsequential. Maybe I missed something, but it's not really a big deal anyway.
It's weird to say I didn't like the story because it allows for different dialogue options, so maybe other players will come to a more satisfying ending than I did, but for me the whole thing was all fizz and no pop. It kinda just ended, with the player character seemingly knowing what she knew at the start of the game, and having had pretty much no impact on the events portrayed within the game. Having said that, I'd actually quite like to see the play just to get the writer's actual vision for the story, and not whatever ending the game spits out based on my answers to multiple choice questions.
I don't really know who this is for. I picked it up because I'm a huge fan of basketball, and it damn sure wasn't for me. As an LGBT story it comes across as playing it very safe, and doesn't really say a lot. Maybe you have to be a fan of short visual novels, in which case there must be something that's a little easier on the eyes than this.
