Excellent beat 'em up with tons of replayability. Especially fun with a friend, but I also occasionally come back to it on my own and still enjoy it.

Excellent RPG with an interesting story, characters and dialogue. The setting and art style are fantastic, and there are lots of secrets to be found for those that enjoy optional exploring.

The only criticism I have is that enemies don't have strengths or weaknesses - e.g. a fireball will do just as much damage to an enemy that lives in lava to one that lives in snow. As such, once you've found an effective combat strategy for one enemy type, it will work on everything. This can make combat a little repetitive, but a lot of battles can be avoided anyway and different upgrade options later in the game give you flexibility in how you play.

All in all a superb title that deserves far more attention than it's received so far.

P.S: You can finish the game much quicker than I did, but I overleveled and explored everything because I didn't want it to end.

I think the almost 100,000 other positive reviews cover just about every aspect of why you should play this, so I will offer a slightly different kind of review:

I have had a Steam account for 7 years, and possess over 1000 games. I have never spent more than £5 on a single PC game in my life. I'm as cheap as they come, which is why downloaded DDLC - I thought it was just a silly free 'meme' game.

As soon as I finished, I immediately went and paid £7 for the fan pack, because I felt guilty about experiencing this masterpiece without paying for it. I wanted to support the developer make more incredible games/stories like this, because no other game I have ever played has made me feel so many emotions as strongly as this one.

I know it looks silly, but I implore you to try it (and be patient with it), and to go in as blind as possible. I can almost guarantee you won't regret it.
