This is one of the best games I have ever played. It is extremely well polished and designed game (in both its levels and its bosses), has beautiful graphics that really give that throwback feel and playstyle, has one of the best soundtracks for a game, its original and new, and its simply a masterpiece. I had so much fun with this game and it has such a great replayability that I will probably see myself playing this as many times as possible till I get all the achievements.

Its design flows, levels don't require any sort of backtracking or tedious traversing, and it uses elements of the game that are familiar to old gamer veterans who played games like megaman and other side scrollers. Its compact yet big enough to get a sense to explore, and attempt to find treasure and goal. It has that castlevania/megaman feel in which you traverse a level, find special weapons and upgrades along the way, and maybe you can use it against the boss, or it just helps with traversing the level or overall making you stronger. They don't lay everything out for you and you get a sense of acomplishment when you find something new and you inivate a strategy for using it. First playthrough I didn't even use all the items, I simply collected them for the sake of completion and exploration. Its balanced, not too hard and not too easy (could have a bit more challenging bosses though, but then a no die playthrough would be absolute torture :P) The design is fun and flows that it is actually fun to get to the boss as you gotta solve mini puzzles and figure out how to traverse to the next platform.

The style fits for that throwback feel and sidescroller action that is implemented in games like megaman which bring back that feeling of nostalga, and who doesn't like a little throwback? Also, the style fits so well with the gameplay and just the concept of the shovel knight. I love it and think they did an amazing job and making every environment unique and beautiful.

The soundtrack... well I love the old 8 bit and 16 bit soundtracks whenever I would play on the NES, and it pumped you up for what was to come, like in games such as double dragon 2. It just felt goooooooodddd. This game gets the blood pumping and jams... jammin. Also they fit the environments for each different level. ITS JUST GREAT. That is really all I gotta say about that.

I mean, even the "story" if that's what you wanna call it is cool. The ending and the constant saving of Shield Knight in dreams made enough of an impact to keep me interested and emotionally engaged in the game, which just added that one more layer that it needed as a creative and interesting game.

And Replayability. Its short and sweet. It doesn't drag on, like most platformers do. Game like mario and megaman are known for their replayability and good design... most of the time. Shovel knight has that same aspect as a platformer that make it a fun game to come back to whenever you feel like it and still have a grand ole time.

10/10, definitely ranked as one of my favorite games of all time, and I highly reccommend it to anyone contemplating on getting it.

I don't play too many fighters, but I gotta say this is probably one of the best western fighters of all time. The control and animation is so fluent and the game goes so in depth with style, strategy, combos, tactics, and despite its small roster makes sure to create a balanced gameplay that is competitive and... just freaken awesome. I recommend it to anyone interested in fighters as this is a huge catch and definitely worth it.

While the game is creative in some respects, its not something that I would personally recommend. I mean... the gameplay is really just guessing what kinds of aspects make this or that game good and making random guesses. Sure its something you can get into and waiste time on for a bit, but once you find out what puts out the best results, the game falls flat when you reach over 10-20 million $.

Overall, an interesting project, but not something that I would invest money into due to its lack luster design and its poor replayability.

I must say, this is a very good free to play game. I have alot of fun progressing through levels, and each one provides a challenge. The main nitpick on the game is the fact you have to either get an elevator pass or wait 24 hours for a complete "session." Otherwise, great art style, great combative gameplay, and intuitive design make it a one hell of an adventure.
