From behind a rock, JJWAATT heard a loud thunk-thunk, followed by a frustrated grumble. Peeking over, he spotted Poppy, the Keeper of the Hammer, attempting to dislodge her weapon from a tree stump. Her tiny hands gripped the handle as she tugged with all her might, her short legs planted firmly in the dirt.
“C’mon, you oversized mallet! Move already!” Poppy growled.
“Need a hand?” JJWAATT called out.
“I’m JJWAATT,” he said with a sheepish grin. “Just a curious summoner. Saw you struggling and thought I’d help.”
“I don’t need help!” Poppy huffed, though the hammer remained firmly stuck. She gave it one last tug before sighing and sitting down on the stump. “Fine, maybe I do. Just... don’t tell anyone, alright?”
JJWAATT approached cautiously, his eyes catching something unexpected. Poppy had kicked off her boots, letting her feet rest on the grass. He couldn’t help but notice how small they were compared to his own. Yordle feet weren’t something he’d ever thought about before, but now, he was utterly fascinated.
“Oh! Yeah, sorry!” JJWAATT stammered, trying to play it cool. “It’s just... I’ve never seen a yordle’s feet before. They’re, uh, really... unique.”
Poppy raised an eyebrow, then glanced at her own feet. “What, these? They’re just feet. Good for walking and stomping. Why do you care?”
“I—I don’t know!” JJWAATT blurted out. “They’re just... interesting. So small, but they must be strong to carry you and that hammer.”
Poppy squinted at him, then smirked. “You’re a weird one, aren’t you? Fine. If you’re so curious, take a good look.”
JJWAATT froze, unsure whether to laugh or panic. “Uh... thanks?”
“Don’t mention it,” Poppy said nonchalantly. “Literally. Don’t mention it to anyone. Ever.”
He couldn’t help but marvel at how such tiny feet could belong to someone so powerful. They were calloused, sure, but in a way that spoke of countless adventures and battles. JJWAATT felt a strange mix of awe and amusement.
“Done! Totally done!” JJWAATT exclaimed, gently setting her feet back on the ground.
“Good,” Poppy said, pulling her boots back on. “Now, help me with this hammer. If you’re not gonna be useful, you might as well head back to your summoner tower.”
As they worked together to free the hammer, JJWAATT couldn’t help but chuckle. Meeting Poppy was nothing like he expected—but it was a story he’d never forget.
