Hey would you look at that, the devs listened to the community and are trying out buffing weapons instead of nerfing them into the ground.

The recent update buffed a lot of weapons, some that were gutted for no apparent reason, and some that needed some love and so far, the buffs have been great. It's actually fun to use weapons in the game again.

Hopefully this continues, and we strike a balance with the weapons and enemies of the game. I won't hold my breath though, as things could change easily but for now at this current state the game is definitely fun again.

Early Access Review
It's a fun game as it stands currently, it's gameplay loop is enjoyable. However currently just navigating the levels is difficult, the set up for waves to start breaching is time based, and you need to move your traps to certain positions on the map.

The difficult part is that the game does not tell you where to go other then an icon showing where the enemies are breaching (I.E, A, B, C, D, E, etc) and the only way to know where to go is symbols on the walls with the letters but at times the letters are only visible when it's a room or two close to where you want to go. Refilling hp and ammo is similar, but worse in my opinion. The only way to find health and ammo is to go back to the spawn pods you came from (although some maps have a scatter of ammo or hp in other spots) but there's no indication of ammo or hp in the classic icons of ammo or hp (like a symbol of 3 bullets or plus sign) you have to search for a small green text box, that says "Spawn Pods" to get back to it. All while you're timed and pressured to move through a map that has no indication of where the enemies are coming from exactly and set up traps as well.

The main map I had this problem on was Engineering, the spawn pods text was on the floor, small and I didn't see it in time and wasted my setup trying to find hp to heal before the battle.

Another problem is actually a confusing one. Most Tower Defense-esque games have some kind of indication of where the enemies are traveling to for the goal, in this case the exit to escape. The game does mark the exit enemies are heading towards, but the confusing part is that the game does not tell you where the enemies are heading to at all (Like arrows showing their path of movement). It may be a design choice, but I've had a few times where I set up a trap choke-point, only to find the enemies had a separate path and walked around the traps I had placed anyway.

Regardless, the game is fun despite the small frustrations and will hopefully get better with time. Once you learn the game and the maps well enough, these problems I listed wouldn't be an issue later on it would just take a lot of trial and error and many frustrating moments.

The game was great, loved the mechanics shown and how each mode had different ways of winning. The existence of the Shrine was interesting, with how it twisted gameplay and gave you alternate objectives. In my playthrough of the game I did experience a few bugs here and there but overall only twice at most did I need to restart to fix something that was bugged. I was able to complete the game without much trouble.

The extreme modes, unlocked after getting all the endings, are certainly difficult. Even though there isn't an achievement for no damage, I wonder if someone out there might try to do that challenge regardless.

I appreciate the work put into making this game from all angles; The music and ambient noises were great, the animations and updated models/newer models were also great, the end result was interesting and the story found within is certainly worth thinking over. I am looking forward to Nightmare mode for the original game, and future games.

A very enjoyable game, difficult if you choose the higher difficulties but the lower difficulties offer a easier time if you want to cruise through the wonderful story.

A man in a black cloak told me to give this a negative review because they broke a promise and added mircotranscations. Now I didn't care much about it at the time, but ever since I tried this candy given to me by the same man, I can't shake the undeniable rage that burns when I think of payday 2.

The candys still good though.
