Testosterone: the game. Peak male power fantasy right here.

Fallout 4 is far from a perfect game, but it is good and enjoyable 90% of the time. Its shortcomings however, are all the more frustrating, as you keep thinking that with just a little bit more attention to details (such as some reload animations, lots of minor bugs, weapons fading away instead of being holstered, and the lack of more depth to the companions, lackluster dialogue options, a main story that feels nice and personal in the first half and then completely and utterly disjointed in the second half etc.) would've made this a great game.

I recommend trying this out, I'm sure you'll have a great time, especially if you dive into the world of mods available for this game (which fix some of the problems listed above). However, don't expect the highest level of finish, it's rough around the edges and will always be, but there's enough to love here, especially since you can get it for around 10 bucks with all the DLCs.

Although not without its flaws, DAI is an ambitious game that has a lot to offer. In fact, one of its defects is that it has too much too offer - a classic example of content bloating. However, given how cheap you can get it these days, it is an absolute steal. It has a good story, great tactical/action gameplay, solid RPG elements, likeable companions and a very good crafting system that is worthwhile using.
I also recommend playing the first two games (or at least the first one, Dragon Age Origins. Even though is a bit outdated, it remains the best in the franchise) before playing this if you want to get the full experience. The amount of choices you do in those games have a really big effect on this game, which is an impressive feat they managed to pull.

This game is conflicted because it completely excels in some regards and fails miserably in others. Still I think it is worth the time of 40K fans.

PROS

Everything gameplay related is top-notch. The combat, melee and ranged, is fantastic (even better than vermintide) and I think this is the best it can get in a horde, hack and slash co-op game. The presentation is amazing, the graphics are great, the atmosphere is 100% spot-on for a 40K game, the guns feel and sound absolutely amazing and the music slaps like few other games. The character banter is also pretty good but since you don't play as an established character anymore, it gets a bit bland and repetitive after a while.

CONS

The main problem is that the game is shallow as a puddle. You have 4 classes, each with a bunch of shared weapons and a few unique ones, around three "underground"/"sewers" maps, a "streets" map and a "desert" map and a bunch of missions that utilize these few maps giving you different objectives on them. In the lobby, you have a shop from which you can buy weapons and cosmetics with in-game currency, a little bit of upgrading and re-rolling stats on your equipment and the microtransactions shop. You also have some weekly missions and some achievements and that's it.

The moment-to-moment gameplay and playing co-op with friends is enough to keep you playing for a few dozen hours, maxing out one or two characters but there's only so much gameplay can do in the absence of any real story, of proper progression and class+weapon diversity.

CONCLUSION

If you are a big fan of the setting, this game is worth it because no other game will immerse you in the 40K Warhammer universe as this one will. If you are indifferent with the setting and just want to have fun hacking and slashing - get Vermintide 2. As it stands, it offers A LOT more content for a cheaper price.

Campaign is way better than the first Dawn of War.

Bought the whole series with a few bucks on a sale. They aged like fine wine. Some of the best RTS ever made.

It's now without its flaws, but there is nothing quite like it.

My dear sir/lady, you are currently looking at an RPG masterpiece. A timeless piece of art and passion, a love letter to all role-players out there. Dozens upon dozens of hours of pure bliss, 0 fetch quests, memorable content, immersion and positive engagement. I got so emotionally involved with the main characters that I once dreamed they died and I woke up crying. Truly, one of the best (if not THE BEST) RPG out there.

Fun and deeply satisfying core gameplay with serious balancing issues that have been here since the start and devs seem not to care.

Either way, give it a try, it's good fun most of the time (especially playing 2v2s with a friend).

Most of the top reviews are from when this DLC was released. Much has changed. Now, with the Elven campaign mechanic fixed, we are looking at some of the best Total War Warhammer content out there. Both the Skaven and the Asrai are really fun to play, their campaign mechanics are great, the new units are good. I really recommend this DLC, especially if you dont own Realm of the Wood Elves (which is expansive af) and what to get the whole Wood Elf roaster and a slick Legendary Lord!
