I've been caught in a vicious dopamine cycle

One of the most in-depth sandbox games I've ever played.

It has a steep learning curve if you wanna make your zoos look really good, but it can still be enjoyed casually. The expansion packs are expensive, yes, and over time I've come to acquire all of them, but if you just recently bought and started playing the game, you'll come to see how optional they really are. I think it speaks volumes when a game like this can still be great even without its DLC content. Definite recommend.

An interesting genre blend of management sim, rogue-lite, and visual novel.

While I don't think this game is for everyone, I think it has a unique and unapologetic take on e-celeb culture and mental illness. There aren't many games I've played where I've taken the time to really absorb what the developer is trying to "say", but it's pretty hard not to with this game, so that's cool and I appreciate it for making me think. If you're not too bothered by taboo themes or dark humour and like the anime aesthetic, then I say it's worth a try. Otherwise, stay away.

At first glance, you wouldn't think it would be very fun and would control like ♥♥♥♥.




But boy oh boy would you be wrong. GOTY for me so far.

It may not be perfect, but the dev team updates it every now and then with more features and content. Has only improved since launch.

The REAL "Depression Quest".

If there was ever a game this year that was deserving of a full $60 purchase, it would be this one.
