Game is a great, casual coop shooter. 4 player objective based gameplay on semi-procedural generated maps, with a heavy emphasis on support call-ins from your ships in low orbit. Play at the difficulty you want, against the enemy you want. Don't let the mixed reviews turn you away from a great game that has been consistently improving and added to since launch.

Most content added after launch (new armors, weapons, and cosmetics) are unlocked with a "premium" currency that is entirely earn-able through gameplay. The other post-launch additions such as stratagems (call in support from your ship, think heavy weapon drops and airstrikes) and stratagem upgrades are immediately available to everyone, barring any unlock requirements that the launch content is subject to like level or requisition slip (non-premium currency) requirements.

My top game of the year so far, and at a fraction of the price of everything else releasing concurrently.

Amazing, GOTY for me hands down. It is turn-based which may be a challenge for unfamiliar players to get used to. Once you get past that, oh boy are you in for some fun.

Story and content is awesome, with intriguing characters and story beats while not always taking itself too seriously.

Difficulty feels perfectly balanced. If you min/max the balanced difficulty can seem a little underwhelming, cant speak for the hard difficulty (yet). However, it feels perfect for actual role playing as a character (i.e. doing what this character would do in a situation, as opposed to the technically optimal way to handle situations), spiking in difficulty at some fights without feeling unfair. This lets you go more unique with your character builds instead of following some meta build for each class. Plus, the game lets you re-class at any point past like 3 hours in for basically free, letting you completely rebuild your character at any point.

In summary super fun, both solo and with friends.

I've never had a game that makes me both hate it and love it this much at the same time.
