Great detective sim. Does get stale after multiple playthroughs as you learn how to easily find the culprit.

Got it from a Humble Bundle and just this made me regret the purchase. This being $60 is criminal! The story and gameplay is so bad that it left me wondering who is this game even for. The fan service isn't worth the wasting of your time or money.

Enjoyed the game on the Xbox 360 as far as I can remember but the port is terrible. Revisiting it in 2023 was a disappointment. The game doesn't recognize my controller. (NSW Pro Controller). Also, had issues setting the resolution (Ultrawide 3440x1440). Was able to blindly navigate menu and set settings correctly (dealt with black screen until reboot). I refuse to use a third party app to get the controller working because that's BS.

Played Dead Rising 1 just recently and it worked flawlessly, both graphically and supported NSW pro controller both wired and wireless. Online presence for DR2 seems dead based on forum post asking for people to help with online achievements.

A great fighting game for turn based/real-time strategy fans. It can be both frustrating and rewarding depending on your opponent. It's mainly a multiplayer game that has mod support but separates mod users and non mod users. It uses a lot of fighting game terminology so looking into that can help immensely playing the game. Primarily, you want to learn about frame advantage and learn that the less frames it take for you to make a move, the better! Once that's done, then it becomes a reading game where you want to anticipate your opponents move. Finally, there's the satisfaction of your game playing out in real time. So an approximately 30 minute game will play out in less than a minute to make your matches look like epic fight scenes. Many mention this to be like chess and they're not wrong with some of the calculations that need to be made to be victorious. It's unfortunate that the game might just stay as an indie gem but it is brilliant on its execution. While online is still active as of this review, it is also more enjoyable versus friends!

54 GB of your SSD/HDD is wasted on the online portion. You can delete the DLC folder which has most of the multiplayer content and still play single player but once there's an update to multiplayer, you're SOL. Steam won't let you launch the game without updating it. So if you don't have enough space to download the update, you can't play the game. Rockstar should just separate the Single Player and Multiplayer as their own download. I don't care for their predatory online BS MP game but I would love to finish the Singleplayer if they just let me save some space on my SSD!

Controller support sucks! Multiple forum post about this issue has been unanswered. Doesn't seem like you can change the toolbar order either, at least with controller. Other than that, it's just a boring grindfest of a game. Items regenerate at a constant pace for you to gather, refine and do over again with no story or reason to do so.

This is a biased review based on other metroidvania games played. It will also have spoilers so beware. I have completed an ending of the game with 52% of achievements completed. Overall, this game is disappointing. For the prices, this game is better than Itorah, somewhat on par with Souldiers but far behind Hollow Knight (HK). The game feel short and lacks polish.

For the pros:
Nice environment/background art
Nice sprite work
Nice soundtrack

For the cons:
Character Portaits
Length of gameplay
Story
Weapon balance
Animation
Combat

Based on a first time playthrough, I know I missed some sections which seemed impossible to get to based on the items I had. However, I reached the end without exploring them. For reference I got the ship repaired and got the field shut down but told Ropper to leave Deadsuit behind due to damage. This ending felt unsatisfactory and leads me to believe/hope there was more. I hate how some dialogue is voices but most isn't and is just text. Compared to the beautiful background, the character portraits suck. I feel Souldiers character dialogue scenes are better.

Combat is passable with enemies having enough pattern recognizance on when to dodge/run away. Allocating your stats make it seem like an important task but its not, just make sure your strong and any enemy will die eventually. Melee only seems a playstyle but some enemies explode making shooting at a distance much more viable. The missiles seem to be the best special weapons with others not dealing enough damage or being completely useless. There's a luck stat that seem entirely useless as I only found one item to upgrade it and it costs 8,000 nanogel. Nothing but two collectibles seemed to be drop by standard enemies and I got those near the beginning of my playthrough.

Animations seem stiff. With the running and walking animation being similar to adobe flash bone tools. For the details/beauty on the background and the soundtrack, the animations looks stiff. There is some world building in the narrative, but nothing that makes you wonder or creates a want to know more. From what I gathered you are just in this moon (whether you where born here, are a living person/mechanical or crash landed here doesn't matter) you find some people who crashed due to circumstance (someone has a shield around this moon which causes people to crash when approaching said moon) and you help survivors to escape by repairing their ship and shutting down said shield.. There's some mystery about the world but nothing that really hooked me to care or see the lore explained.

There some unique mechanics in the game that make it interesting, but not enough to make use of them (overheating making your melee stronger, certain melee weapons having unique moves fist weapon's jump attack and swords running attack a rechargeable special bar for alternate fire. Unfortunately, the game doesn't make these options favorable due to lack of balance.

I would recommend this game on a sale which make me believe HK being $15 and being so polished has set the bar high for new metroidvanias. Still, I do hope for a sequel that builds upon the mechanics set out in this game does come out but based on the ending I got, I don't see that happening. Close but no cigar
