Honestly my main issue of this game is it feels like it wants to be a strategy game with alot of choices, but by the very nature of a text based visual novel essentially they can't help but be railroady. Like i enjoy the story, i love how characters bounce off one another as well. However this is a visual novel with strategic and political decisions. Not a traditional game with actual gameplay.
The rizia expansion did alot of help change that with more choices, and actual strategy involved, but its still not there yet.
For example replacing cabinet members with people you specifically find should be a thing, and in the sordland part you should have options for your vice president prior to taking office.

Overall this at the very least has a fun engaging story. However on rails it is.

good classic battlefield style gameplay. slow if not nonexistent updates, devs got super successful day 1 and had too much to handle on their plate. Its a classic story old as time.

i've had alot of fun, and hilarious moments in this game especially when you can literally hear the enemy team talking in proxy. Superb gameplay moments happend with that simple thing.

Gameplay wise it could use more varied maps, and maybe vehicle customization. This type of title always lends itself to having more options being good. Sure hard to balance but bf4 players were happy about it.
Private servers last i checked were not a thing yet so forgive me if they are now.
Another thing i noticed is the lack of care of letting the mod community have at it. bf2 still lives because of this.

Anyway being asked to agree to cringe rules EVERY TIME YOU ENTER A MATCH is extremely annoying. Also yet another game that thinks trash talk is bad in games when its multiplayer. Your just soft. Dw its a thing alot of devs do now. they grew up in cod lobbies and wanna prevent people from having the same experience because they got your mom joked like 3 times.
TL;DR if you want to have this rule set make me agree once and it would be less annoying and in my face always. Yet since you insist on placing the big ♥♥♥♥ of rules in my face 25/6 i will complain about it here in this review.


Final point. Game was fun. But i found myself playing other similar games more because the magic wore off like 2 months after launch. there's not that much special here.

This is THE cowboy game. its not A cowboy game. IT IS THE COWBOY GAME. It has not only surpassed all others of its subject matter, its so immersive, and literally fits the definition of an epic. The game is long, rich, and full of things to do from hunting to even fishing as side things i can do for hours for no reason. I just cannot express how good this game is in singleplayer.

Meanwhile

Multiplayer is lame in rockstar games so this will not include that portion because it might as well not exist.

I will not play this game again until the sony account thing is turned non mandatory again. I would not have gotten it if i had to make an account that will be in a corpo that leaks information every 5 seconds.

This is not about safety, it is about publisher control and getting your data to sell. I'll give it a few more days before attempting a refund. This has to break some rules for literally changing a major thing like this.

Also unprofessional community managers is a sign of a decline in quality for a company. Fix it.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can you keep your mods under control in discord for 5 seconds? They seriously ruin the reputation of the already tarnished company.
Its annoying and makes me think you support these weirdos in the team. Community managers as well.
Ah yes the ONE dude who changed his mind and admited to being wrong was fired but not the other toxic people.
Is the game good? yes.
Does this give me any good hope or faith it will continue the good quality? No. To be perfectly frank within a year i expect this game to go full political or a mess.

You don't ♥♥♥♥ with your fanbase after the sony debacle. Like genuinley i don't understand how you can ♥♥♥♥ up this randomly and consistently for easily preventable things.

ok specifically on this dlc. do i love the units and the uniqueness of south africa in the cold war? YES.
do i think india, vietnam, taiwan, thailand, or pakistan would make more sense for the asian setting? yes.

Another odd thing i can say about this dlc is the lack of maps. like cool i can play them, but no new maps for the new factions, or old returning maps. Like i don't understand the horror of never adding the cool old maps in europe or scandinavia. or even new maps in asia. If they ever add more content for this game maps are needed i'm sorry.

Other than that solid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dlc. just wish the israeli and s.a. dlc had factions that they could fight on their own border like angola, or syria and egypt. Anyway this game has solidified itself as a classic among the cold war nerds like me.

Imagine being a studio built from modders and not letting mods be a thing to fix unfinished games which they somehow can't stop themselves from releasing.
Like ultimate general as a series was great, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you guys bite off too much at once and then get surprised when people make fun of you for releasing half baked games.

DO NOT BUY UNTIL DEVELOPED MORE you'll just encourage this dumb behavior.
Also seriously adding mod support for games should be a basic standard thing now since all these games are singleplayer bar one developed by game-labs.

I actually don't understand paradox fanboys. This is literally just a better running bare bones version of ck2 years after this released. Historical events? what's that?
At least this one doesn't lock entire regions of peoples to play behind dlc i guess.

Idk i never understood why this can't be a fun history sandbox of the middle ages with the unique mechanics that could exist for that, and be a role playing game thats character based.
Ck3 just emphasized the character text based middle ages sims gameplay rather than actually expand upon the setting more.

Literally no economic systems, warfare is worse than imp rome (honestly that would have been better here), and most decisions aren't in here.
Also no naval mechanics. why? because a youtuber, and the marketing team gaslit everyone into thinking the venitians, coastal raids from north africa into europe, vikings, the english, byzantine greek fire ships, and so on didn't exist. Yes most naval battles were near the coast... so what? just make a system around that its not that hard. imp rome did it.

Relition wise this game is a step up, but like everything it feels bare.
Like all pdx games this is just modifier that gives x % instead of changing how stuff runs.

Not worth buying dlc for. Pass.

Honestly i do like this game as a sequel of this series. However just like every other one of this series its incremental changes that make it almost closer to becoming a good fps that stands up to contemporary titles. Frankly a similar gun play system to how insurgency or red orchestra with the slight free move center aiming would be a godsend. Also smoother movement in general.

The guns feel a little light and pop instead of powerful like they kind of were. However this is minor things that probably can be changed in a future title.

The game feels like ww1. Just flat out it feels like it. Its hard to quantify but its only competitor in terms of immersion is bf1. Which this dev team will never have the budget for which is fine.
The downsides are overshadowed by the nice features carried from last games, and new things added.

I would have changed up how the engi does things for placing mgs anywhere instead of set areas. However not the biggest deal. Even a single class that has a mg to set up would work. Tri pod and all.

The class system was expanded upon, and it shows. The game feels alot better without the 4 man squads, but i do miss grouping up with friends.

simple. bought product. expected a decent call of duty experience. It had matches with bots alongside players, and more vehicles. That's pretty good.

an overpriced 70 buck usd game that crashes too much.
Yeah refunded.
maybe after a price drop, and a year of bug fixes this will be fun.

Unfinished, takes forever to load a browser level game. The concept like sup2 is amazing. The fact you can adjust budget for everything is cool, and all but its just not ready. There's so many things not ready about this game its not even funny. Please fix this. I refunded it and will check in a year and hopefully its actually good.
