Love this game, but its not for texture snobs....better than the sequels for the single player stuff imho. The follow up games tried too hard to be CoD or Battlefield with tactics.

My friends and I got this game to play at a LAN because it supports more than 4 players.
It is a huge disappointment through and through after 25+ hours of playing.
Controls are bizarre and unintuitive and the actual multi-player missions are even more opaque and frustrating. Should have had a more star-craft like control system.
I've read what I can find for guides and most are woefully incomplete - and I've watched videos for hours trying to figure out how to complete a map.
Basically the winning strategies are not very intuitive or fun and the missions don't really make sense due to a lot of garbled information and competing mission clocks and wave timers.
In before: lol you just need to get good (or variation) <- certainly true, but the game is just not worth the time as far as effort in to fun out ratio.
So many frustrating games ending with a burrowing boss monster that corners you and does above ground AOE damage and destroys your seizmic resonator, getting nuked 2 minutes into a 4 minute evac mission - evac missions starting for seeming no reason - other missions ending or failing before timer or before parameters are even clear or regardless of the parameters stated in the mission briefing... It is all confusion and frustration and opacity.
Skip this. I won't buy red solstice 2 or anything from this dev.

JA2 has been one of my favourite games of all time since I was just a wee boy. Shout out to anyone that reads that this game is legit, funny and has great mechanics that are a bit grittier and perhaps even unnecessary by modern game design but is fits brilliantly in the context of this game and the era that it comes from.

A sequel was announced way back and I it is one of the few games I am looking forward to the in sad state my life has become as a 30 something human.

I adored this game. I remember trying it around when it first came out and getting overwhelmed by the UI, but I gave it a real shot this time and I'm so glad I did. There's a lot of stuff on the UI, but it's not nearly as complex as it looks and it doesn't take long to get familiar with it.

A lot of pretend-Internet games (not sure what else to call them) I've played before have really out-of-touch, hamfisted writing, but this one surprised me with how good the writing was. The characters felt like real people, and the 2016-ness of the writing felt nostalgic as opposed to painfully dated. And the story is so good. It's unpredictable without doing that thing a lot of lazy writers do where they throw in "twists" that make no sense. That's a tough balance to strike. I was constantly second-guessing myself, and when I figured something out or made educated guesses that turned out to be correct, it was so satisfying. This is one of those rare games I desperately wish I could play for the first time again.

There were a lot of times when I "made mistakes" or regretted choices I made and thought I'd screwed up my playthrough, but this game autosaves everything you do and doesn't let you load previous saves, so the perfectionist streak I tend to have this kind of game was foiled, and I'm so glad it was.

Your voyeurism itch will be scratched, the decisions you make will be complex and have real weight, you'll probably mess up at times, then you might realize that what you thought was a mess-up was actually the right thing to do, and sometimes there will be no clear right thing to do at all. Play it.

I have finished the game and got 100% achievement. i like the storyline and the story branches are also quite diverse. the girls in this game are very attractive, they are all beautiful and cute, they also have their own traits and personalities. recommended for those who like dating sim games and like beautiful and cute girls, and also games that have quite a lot of story branches.
