Outer Wilds is the greatest game ever made. Echoes of the Eye gives you more of that game. It's very good.

To give a longer review, Echoes of the Eye brings you more of everything that was great about the original game. The fascinating mysteries, the thrill of discovery, and awe-inspiring new environments to explore. It's hard to say exactly how much new content there is without giving anything away, but I can say that the base game gave me about 15 hours of playtime, start to finish, and this DLC has given me at least another 10.
The only caveat is that the DLC does have more of a horror vibe at times than the base game, but just like certain parts of the base game (you know what I'm talking about) it stops being scary once you're used to it. Plus, there is a setting that's meant to reduce some of the horror aspects, which is a nice touch.

All in all, if you liked the base game, it's a pretty safe bet that you'll like this too.

I can comfortably say that this is the greatest game I've ever played. The game world may not be huge, but it's absolute joy to explore. In fact, I'd say it's the only game that can truly be called an exploration game. Other games might give you a big world to wander around in as you go form objective to objective or look for enemies, dungeons, loot, audio logs, whatever. But in Outer Wilds, exploration IS the very core of the game. There are no upgrades, no unlockables, no crafting materials to collect. The only thing that ever changes is you, and your knowledge of the world you're in as you discover and learn more about it. This makes the experience of uncovering the story feel so much more personal and impactful than other games. You're not just being drip-fed a story as you go from point A to point B; it really is up to you to piece it together and go on your own journey of discovery.

It also helps that the game is absolutely beautiful and the planets are all so unique and interesting that even if you weren't paying attention to the story at all, you'd still want to explore everything you could, just to see it.

On top of that, the physics and mechanics of the game are so much fun to play around with. From landing a toy spaceship on the moon, to launching shuttles at comets, to flinging yourself into orbit by jumping into a geyser, there's plenty to keep you entertained.

Lastly, the philosophy of the game. I almost don't want to say anything because I think it's best to absorb the themes of the game yourself by going in blind, but I will say that it's one of the most beautiful, touching, and life-affirming experiences I've had from a work of art.

All in all, do yourself a favour and play this game. It's truly unforgettable, which is in a way its only flaw, because you'll wish you could forget it just to experience it all over again.

It's a bit pricey for what you actually get - a 12 page comic, a 38 page artbook, and 17 wallpapers. That said, I'm satisfied with it, because I see it more as supporting the devs in exchange for a couple of cool bonuses rather than something that justifies itself solely on the stuff you get for it. If you're happy with that, and a fan of the game, definitely go for it. Just don't expect to be amazed by the content.

The specifics, if you wanna know before you buy: the comic is pretty good, but very short. It essentially only has one "scene", but it sheds some light onto the actual story, which wasn't really explored much in-game. Plus, the art is nice.
The artbook is just that - some art. It's not bad, I really liked some of it, but don't expect any comprehensive stuff like detailed quotes or captions about the game or its development like you might find in some other game artbooks.
As for the wallpapers, as I said, there are 17 of them, each with a 1920x1080, 2560x1440, and 3840x2160 resolution version. Most of them are hi-res stills from the animated trailer, one is the full version of the picture they use as the main image on the store page, and one is a full version of the picture used for the soundtrack cover (the best one of the lot, imo)

You know The Thing? It's pretty much that.
This is a great little game, although little is the operative word. It's very short, having taken only 5 hours for me to 100% the game - and that includes leaving it paused while I stopped for food. However, it was very fun for that short time, and worth the price in my opinion.

Something worth noting is that the game doesn't really offer a whole lot of challenge. It leans more on the side of power fantasy. Basic enemies are pretty much only a threat in groups, and even then they have very little chance of taking your health down faster than you can get it back by eating their friends. The more advanced enemy types are usually only challenging the first time you encounter them, before you know how they work, but you'll quickly figure them out and have little trouble with them afterwards. The hardest part of the game was actually running around the map at the end, trying not to get lost as I hunted for the collectables, since for some reason the devs decided to make a metroidvania-ish game without a map. There's also not really much of a story. I intend to play through again to see if I missed anything on that front, but in general don't go in expecting a great narrative.

The game itself is pretty fun, but by god is the "story" pretentious. I think it's trying to pull the whole meta thing but honestly, it's just tiresome and seriously detracts from what would have otherwise been a fun action shooter. If you ever see this on sale for dirt cheap then it's worth picking up, but otherwise you should probably give it a miss.
