Deserving of the critical acclaim. I heard this was an excellent board game ported to digital. It is probably ideal in digital, I imagine it would be a lot to manage physically.

I'm doing a two player campaign, it's a lot of fun, and VERY challenging, even on easy mode, and I play some challenging games. Each small and large victory (completing scenarios or even scoring extra perk points) feels very satisfying.

Could use some polish for multiplayer, there are disconnects on occasion and we have to finish the scenario from the host computer. It seems like the Devs are active, I have faith this will be resolved.

All in all a very solid game experience, and likely will be around for 10 or more years.

You can play this game multiplayer WITH ONE GAMING UNIT, ON PC OR CONSOLE. You read that right, ONE UNIT.

I have been looking for a fun game of this nature to play with my girlfriend. She has no interest in buying a thousand dollar gaming pc like I did, she just isn't that into it, so why bother? Finding a fun game that can run on the laptop she has has been up and down.

Enter Outward. Outward will allow two player splitscreen, even on a PC! My computer has had no problems running two players on two separate screens. You can go ridiculous distances apart with no problem, the game is very 2 player functional.

A little jujitsu is required to put each player on a separate screen entirely. You basically use your videocard options to 'span' your display across two screens and vio la, you're good to go. You may want a couple basic mods to re-position some menus and things like the map.

Because both players are operating from the same pc, there is zero lag between players and game update events.

The game itself is an enjoyable and challenging survival game with some classic fantasy touches. Playing solo can be difficult, it really does seem to be designed to play with a second person.

Co-op from the same PC is so rare I focused the review on that, hope you the reader and a friend/significant other find some joy in Outward.

Final Note: It turns out my girlfriend is much better than me at survival games. The majority of our enemies die by way of Great Axe-to-the-face. Good times!

Advertising matters. I haven't played near enough to have a clue if this game is good or not. Me and girlfriend got a copy each, I checked the specs, it listed very basic requirements. I matched those against the laptop gf has, looked fine. When we loaded the game, she could not get out of the starting area at low res without everything bogging down making it impossible to play(she had dedicated gpu also).

Checking the specs and seeing if equipment will run it is my first interaction with your company, stupid place to break trust.

If you don't have a quadcore and a gaming gpu, don't bother.

I mean, only if you want the closest thing you'll ever feel to being a movie hacker, should you purchase this game.

Good game.

Why is this game even on sale? Servers never up, game never supported. Getting tired of getting hustled by steam and paying for games I don't actually get to play.

Does the developer know the difference between squares and cubes?
No.

You don't make any decisions, this isn't a game, it's a short demo, and I wouldn't waste my time with anything from Insanity games if they think offering rubbish demos mislabeled as 'free games' is worth my time.

The guy writing these games should obviously be Curing Cancer, not writing videogames.

Had to give it a thumbs down for that, otherwise, fantastic videogame.

Sooo as expected of the same team from SpaceChem, this game is awesome. Awesome hard! Your brain will really hurt, for the better. Only thing missing is that Evan Lee soundtrack! What gives spacechem guys, was there a falling out? Seriously, 'Working' tunes my brain, get on it. Otherwise, fabulous game.
