Amazing. I feel like a child again. Sure, a child picking out coal dust from the narrowest tunnels of a mine, but a childhood is a childhood, okay?

Could be a second beatsaber. As long as there's just... enough crap in the game for it not to get totally repetitive.
It's a rogue-lite - but first two runs were different enough that I honestly am looking forward to even just the beginning of the third one.

It's physically active - and unlike beatsaber, it doesn't seem obvious that as you get better, it gets less physical. Don't think we're doing "wristboxing" anytime soon, with these damage calculations. Maybe if the devs start adding a boatload of ranged abilities we'll see that same trend, but hopefully not.

Looks visually stunning. Playing it on the Varjo Aero, and the simplistic style that works so well in low res VR works super well in HD as well. Realistic graphics look a bit ♥♥♥♥ in low res, and my poor 3080 doesn't run them in high res. So very happy with this stylistic direction, it's definitely where we need to be for 2024 VR.

Very early to criticise, but what the hell: finding bashing a touch bit "unresponsive" just now, tend to forget to use it. And the dialogue could do well to highlight the first time the player sees enemies coming from hatches located at the sides/at the back. Even just tell the player there's loads of variation in the arenas, it's good to scout em out before getting into the action. I figured it out alright, and I'm definitely kind of a "one-direction-facing" player because of habits running oculus back in the days when room scale was barely supported.

EDIT: Now beat the campaign for the first time. I guess the real test for the game begins now - will I stick around, either replaying campaign or mashing things up in Skirmish? I hope the "at the time of review" updates, if it didn't, this is 4h of play after initial review.

Man was that an epic finish to the campaign, though! Right arm long gone, health on the bubble and on the left arm starting to get critical, a mad series of smashes on the tri-headed warden... watching it collapse, yelling a long series of obscenities at its collapsing corpse. 'Twas good.

(Note: the trailer seems to be out of date. Check the screenshots for more repsentative samples of hwo the world looks).

I've been following this game since 2012. That's right, I've owned it for four years.
I haven't played it much since the first month or, so only occasionally checking it out (see my play time).

Yet, I shall still recommend it, but certainly with a few caviats:
1. don't expect a playable game you can jup in at any time
2. don't expect it to become anything like that for a good few years, more than likely
3. don't expect very frequent updates from the dev.

If you can handle those, the game is a fantastic long term patience building exercise, and when it si finally playable in 2025, you'll get to say "I was here in 2016!". How cool is that? I suppose that depends on your sense of articial honour for wasting money before others had time to. Which, in my case, is pretty strong.

An incedible building game. For those who like strategy, engineering, and building games: At 20€ this is a bargain, and on discount a no-brainer.

Now, there are some reservations I woukld hold, however. If you are tight on free time, you won't get much out of it. Designing a single ship can take eight hours or even more. It really eats away your time.

That said, in those eight hours you will get to determine the most fundamental parts of your ship, from the aerodynamic profile of your missiles, the exhaust piping of your engines or the fine adjustments to your warheads.

My tip for you: don't build things blind. Make sure you create a solid modular hardpoint system so that you can just install different engines, cannon systems, or armour layers, rather than having to create a unique design every time. Some pen and paper helps get the design specific things right helps, too.

Many people here review this for an actual VR game. I won't.

To me the most glaring issue with the agme is, in fact, its greatest strength:
it's disorienting. In fact, it is developed in a way that it should really be shipping with a standard issue puke bucket.
But this is a *good* thing. Whenever people say some game caused them motion sickness, you are taking a risk: will I be affected?
This free, quick to set up demo allows you to test that quickly. What things throw you off? Are you fine with trackpad movement? Does flinching cause you issues? Do involuntary animations make you lose your lunch?
This is the perfect testground for all of that.
I personally survived around 12 minutes purely using the trackpad movement. I learned an awful lot about different tactics to use, and saw how they worked for me. Most of them didn't, as fate would have it.

So, I write this feeling very sick indeed, but knowing far more than I did before those fateful 12 minutes. It was worth it. Well worth it.

It is unlike the Stanley Parable in that it has a very defined ending. It is very much like the Stanlye Parable in that the game starts itself again once you reach it - but this time not on your computer.

Star Conflict could be described as "CoD in space". That is a very basic statement, and most certainly needs some extra details, so here is my review on Star Conflict:

Star Conflict is a F2P Multiplayer dogfighting game. The gameplay could be compared to games like CoD&Crysis 3, but it does have a bit more to it than you would imagine.

But before delving into the game itself, let's talk a bit about the performance; it runs butter smoothly on max settings with my, above average, rig (i5 [email protected] + R9 290x). I have seen many, MANY games that run far worse and don't look nearly as great.

now as that is out of the way, we can start to talk about the mechanics in general.
You have your basic progression in new ships (~50 ships, even though their prices do go up very quickly, which we will discuss later). In addition to that, every ship has a couple slots for weapon and abilities. Each of them can be changed (note: I have yet to be able to change a weapon yet, so keep that in mind) and upgraded. There is some confusion about it, as it seems that you have to jump between afctions if you want thing like railgun rank 3, and did not select the correct faction for it.

The gameplay feels really polished. Movement feels smooth, and you'll get the hang of the controls very quickly, thanks to the great tutorial they provide. The tutorial is short enough that it doesn't get boring, but explains everything that you may not know.

But now, the ugly discussion; "How is the business model?" (AKA. Is it P2W?) (note this is how it was 13/10/2014)
The short answer is "it is okay, but get's progressively worse when you progress in the game".
While your income/match will grow as you level, the growth is just too minimal compared to the way ship costs go up. 1-60k-180k-270k, while your income will grow more like 18k-20k-23k-26k-28k..., which means progression get's much, much slower after the first hour or two.
Meanwhile, the real money price barely changes, making it more and more tempting to throw a bunch of dollars at the devs. So, at the beginning the game is completely fair (so fair that it wouldn't make sense for the developer to keep updating the game), and in the end game it will (likely, note that I have 3h on record, and IO am assuming the P2W-ratio will keep growing as it has) be very P2W (so unfair that it wouldn't make sense for the player to keep playing)
The game has a premium mebership program, but it is rather expensive compared to it's benefits (50% faster progression). (and yes, the progression get's so bad speeding it up by 50% doesn't cut it)

This is a big problem, and could be fixed with changes to the business model, but as it is, you will likely be having GREAT
time for, depending on your patience, 8-16h, and if you are really a fan of dogfighting, maybe even 40-50h, as the gameplay is truly solid.

The conclusion:

It most likely is worth a download, and you will get some fun out of it, for sure. It has a great AAA-level polish to it, and if you are a VR user, the VR support may very well be a good reason for you to keep playing much longer (the explosion effects seem to have been almost made for VR).
If there is something I could add, it would be a power to pay 29,90€ and get a revamped ship costs (and costs in general), so that the cost goes up much slower. (also making all premium currency transactions to have an option to pay 100x (sounds like a lot, but it isn't) in regular game cash), making it to be kinda "P2P-upgrade". With such I could easily rate this game to last 200-300h, but as it is, I just can't see that happening.
I will give "yes" as my recomendation, but with very heavy reservations. That being said: give it a try!

(Kinda commercial-ish:)
Hello! Hope you enjoyed and benefited from my review. If you did, make sure to insert the following "invite code" when registering: D002C17422E3494CE14D55DE7ECDC7C1
This will grant you (as you level up your first 10 levels) ~7€ worth of real cash-products (7 days of premium membership and 600 of the real money corrency). You will also support me if you choose to later use real money in the game, encouraging me to keep investing time and effort into trying to create decent reviews of the titles I personally find interesting.
(in the case of this game, if you decide to use real money in the game, I will be given 10% of what you buy (no, it will not be taken from you), so if you buy 500 credits, you get 500 & I get 50.)

Absolutely incerible game! Reminds me of Doom 2 combined with some more advanced elements (crafting, skill system, etc..).
Ability to change options like sensitivity of mouse in-game would be very welcome, though.
