Multiple crashes unfortunately. Cool Indie concept but needs way more time to cook

THE CRUST

Multi-layered base/colony management simulation that combines elements from factorio, Satisfactory, Anno and RTS building dynamics. Mining/excavation is refreshingly interactive.

All this bundled into a 3D experience with reasonably good voice acting.

The tutorial does a great job at holding your hand through the initial stages, which gives you time to process the different game play layers that, for a change, compliment the overall experience.

Performance is smooth on a mid-tier pc system.

In terms of the price point, the game imho is worth adding to yr library.

Enjoy.

Others have gone into great detail to list all the negatives BUT the worst for me is without a doubt the AI response to behaviour choice and pathing to enemy ships.

You try yr utmost to create the originals games fleet formations but its virtually impossible as large portions of yr fleet, despite being set to Aggressive completely ignore enemy units if they not on the same general path.

While it has elements of the old games and the capture mechanics are well polished, its so buggy overall. I'm writing this review now due to my game now bricked at Cinema screen after defeating a plethora of enemies.

Really did not want to leave a negative review for this, Homeworld series was one of the first games I played, but the game has not been given the polish it should have received.

Pre-ordered the Collectors Editions (Incl. Starship model) and really glad that I was able to be a part of Hello Games realising their vision for NMS.

It has shaped up to be one of the most iconic, chilled and enjoyable titles ever released. With on-going free expansions, that honestly at this point, could be paid releases.. people would gladly throw money at the Devs to keep it coming.

Imho the best part about NMS is being able to continuously leave yr mark in the galaxy(s) and even though you are but a droplet in the proverbial ocean of procedurally generated content, the networked hub systems allow players to come into contact with eachothers "corner of space" with regularly featured community submissions too.

I recommend, if you have not experienced the game as yet, that you do put it on yr radar as its worth the price point.

In terms of where MMO's are sitting these days, STO sits comfortably as a very solid choice to play in 2024. Caveat, the Zen store is expensive, but if you join a solid Armada/Fleet peeps will help you get established. Like anything, yr character needs time to cook.

Semi-Pro tip: Ensure you choose a main character for each faction and multiple characters to 65. This is to farm in game currency and Refined Dilithium as you only get 8000 per character per day and its needed for fleet euipment, officers, trait slots and ships.
