The best FromSoft game, and by that I mean the only one that held my attention long enough to play through multiple times and get the platinum trophy on PS5. No other game, outside of *maybe* Ninja Gaiden Black, has combat this satisfying. There's nothing better than deflecting and breaking an enemy's posture, before jamming your sword in their throat and ripping it out with a geyser of blood that would make Kurosawa proud. I can't wait to get all the achievements in this game again, and I hope one day FromSoft makes a sequel or spiritual successor because I need more. In other words: fun game I go hehe when deathblow.

This game was always good, and the new update just makes it that much better.

Early Access Review
First of all, I'm glad that this game is at least trying to go back to the fast paced arena style shooter that I loved playing as a kid. I had my hopes pretty high after Doom was everything I wanted in terms of single player but not so much in multiplayer. For the most part this game succeeds in being what I wanted it to be, it's fast paced, has an incredibly high skill ceiling and just feels like Quake (to me at least). The abilities don't feel too intrusive to me, but there are obvious balancing issues.

However, although things have gotten better within the last couple of months, this game still has it's far share of issues not only with netcode but with performance. I'm running an i7 6700 with 16GB of RAM and an EVGA GTX 1070 SC and I still get the occasional game that is rife with stuttering and just general unsmoothness. If you were to pick up this game make sure you have a beefy rig because otherwise performance will leave a lot to be desired. Netcode and hit detection aren't nearly as bad as they used to be but every now and then I come across matches that feel a little laggy.

Aside from all my issues with performance I'd still recommend the game, but that might just be because of my nostalgia goggles that I won't deny I have on. If you can look past the technical shortcomings there's a fun game here, and as far as the lootbox and microtransactions go, they're purely for cosmetic items and if you want to buy a hero (assuming you haven't just plopped down $30 like I did). You can rent heroes using in game currency that honestly doesn't take that long to earn, and if I'm being completely honest you really don't need any other champion besides Ranger, he's not the one I usually play but I still get into games were people absolutely stomp with Ranger.

TL;DR
It's a fun game that has it's occasional technical shortcomings (it's effectively still in beta) and if you can look past all of it's issues then I reccomend it.
