Sometimes I wonder: If I could see right through to everyone's soul, and fully comprehend their motivations for everything they did, would there be one overarching reaction I would have to every human on earth, regardless of how good or evil they may seem by their actions alone? At times, I think I would feel overwhelming love for everyone because I would understand how even their ostensibly petty and mean acts are attributable to insecurities, forgivable neuroses or even chemical imbalances. But more often, I think that I would feel only bitter contempt for everyone because I would see how even their supposedly altruistic and loving deeds are rooted in egotistical selfishness.
