Good game, although the visuals are pretty dated now. I do understand that changing them at this point would be essentially remaking the entire game from scratch, and I don't imagine that's really an option.

I'm not sure I agree with some of the medical outcomes, but that's a very niche gripe.

I played the previous build right through, but never got to solving the big mystery - not sure if that was just because I screwed up somewhere.

Fantastic game, love the combat mechanics (which I don't think I've seen before in a VN game).

To say the story is influenced by the Witcher, however, is an epic understatement, akin to saying Jennifer Jason Leigh was "influenced" by Bridget Fonda in Single White Female.

But moving past that, I loved the drama and relationships and romance elements. Would love to see this gameplay but from a female perspective, which would definitely distance it from Witcher comparisons and fill a real void (tee hee!) in the market.

This game is a rollercoaster - the blurb states "Comedy, sex and drama", but that's a terrible description, because it sets it up like some sort of lighthearted Adam Sandler affair, which it absolutely isn't.

I don't know if that's intentional, like the famous Doki Doki Literature Club switcheroo (which it matches in darkness at times), because the tone shifts from being goofy to genuinely tearjerking, to DOWNRIGHT F*CKING HARROWING in places, often with little warning, and normally that's something that would put me off. Acting Lessons succeeds by having very high quality writing, and has clearly been written with love.

Highly recommended for the incredibly emotive story, but you're going to want a box of tissues.

How you use them is up to you.

I was going to write a review saying the game was short without much to it, but then I saw that I'd played it for 73 minutes, so I guess that's completely unfair.

Sometimes games hit you with huge world-building exposition dumps, but I like that this game has a single, simple core concept everything else is structured around - it's late, I'm in the middle of nowhere, I need to get home.

Some of the stories were clearly given more attention than others, and I think that shows, but I enjoyed my 73 minutes playing this game. If I'd taken my £4.99 to McDonalds I'd have probably got a burger and fries, finished it in 5 minutes and then had 73 minutes indigestion.

Actually, that's a great back-of-the-box tagline for you:

"Didn't give me indigestion" - Megrym.

I enjoyed this game, and although I would like to see more from the developer, I'm a bit nervous about going to their website in the same way that I prefer meeting strangers in a crowded coffee shop and not in a back alley behind a porn theatre (noah fence, I'm sure your porn theatre is lovely).

The game itself is interesting and absolutely uncompromising, and what I love love LOVE most isn't the erotic content, but the idea that you can be as slooty as you like, but that slooty-ness has consequences that you then have to deal with IN GAME. I was gutted when Eleanors husband walked out on her during my first playthrough :(

Apart from that, it's all male-gaze perspective and there might be some unhelpful stereotypes being portrayed, but if you look past that, it's a good game with some interesting mechanics. My only other criticism would be pleeeeeeeeeeease can we have some realistic breast sizes?? I love Eleanor but that poor bish must have a permanently sore back...

This is probably the best visual novel I've found on Steam - the story is dark and gritty, the characters flawed and nuanced, great artwork, and as a huge fan of Phillip Marlowe and Sam Spade, I love the way the narrative is crafted and paced.

If Raymond Chandler was alive and writing modern fiction, this is exactly like what I'd imagine he'd be writing. And I have no higher compliment to give it than that.

This game is superbly written, and the art is incredible.

Came for the noods, stayed for the absolutely fantastic story - a paragon of what can be done with the VN format.

Would love to read a whole novel set in this world, really hope we see a sequel.

I enjoyed this game, although would absolutely dispute that it's a "Point-and-Click" or an "RPG", because it's a straight-up visual novel and I'm not sure why it's being shy about it.

One thing I really like is the way it controls pacing, and how by the end I actually felt sorry for the (intentionally) hateful protagonist, despite all the hateful stuff she'd done.

Y'know that song "Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan...?

Well, if you want to know what this game is, it's literally "Like A Rolling Stone: The Game", and I don't mean that as a criticism.
