TL;DR gamer angry and disappointed. Very annoying to trudge through a very guided first few hours to then have everything be ruined by now knowing quite when certain resources become important. Not gonna start over the story again since it would be without emotional weight to replay it.

Lost me completely when I got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ into a corner where I was in DIRE need for a polymer and electronics out of nowhere while I was in a trust downfall I couldn't counter because I didn't have an electronics factory to produce parts for it, once I managed to build one I ran out of silicone, as the crew was crying over staying in the lost solar system I figured I better get on to the next one to get rid of that debuff, of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ course that status was replaced with a "we left our home QQ" status so nothing gained. This meant I had no known silicone deposits in the new system, and no polymers left over to build probes after having to expand the solar panels to deal with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ electronics factory.

The game's story-based and quite guided which slows it down, not necessarily as bad as it sounds if the story has enough of an emotional hook and keeps momentum. Now I would have to go through all the same ♥♥♥♥ with any emotional impetus gone, all because they didn't guide enough to prepare me when it mattered.

Still early doors, I'm not too interested in playing with a work in progress so I've only played the tutorial.
In its current state the tutorials gets you a glimpse of the core gameplay while noticing what's missing, though I have faith in Introversion as one of, if not the most consistent and interesting indie dev teams I have no doubt they will achieve whatever goals for them I have set in my subconscious.

As I don't think there's enough game for most gamers you shouldn't take my "recommend" to mean you should buy it, but if the concept I would strongly advise you wishlist it and follow the updates to see when it's "done enough" for you.

Why does Austria give enough of a ♥♥♥♥ to send 100+ battalions to stop me from annexing Norway? I don't see how I could've predicted that, and now I'm forced to back down and give Norway more autonomy.
This game already puts lots of restrictions around you which adds to the complexity and forces you to think, the unpredictability of Diplomatic Plays takes it just one step too far where you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over by DARING to try and do something.

Playtime is wrong as I played through KeeperFX, guessing the playtime is in the neighborhood of 4-5 hours.

Don't get it twisted by the forum Andy's, DK2 is so much better. With DK2 and WFTO being out there's no reason to buy this dated artifact. Undeniably important for the development of the previously mentioned games but it's best we let its memory be eroded by the sands of time, leaving a literally unplayable relic.
