This is the first adventure/roleplaying game I have ever played. I have played the old Lucasarts games like Indian Jones, Zac McCraken, Full Throttle and Maniac Mansion, but this is different. It is very good and dialogue heavy and lighter on action.

You are a washed up detective who wakes up drunk with no memory of who you are in the middle of a murder case you've been assigned to solve in a fictional post modern setting. The game focuses on themes of political ideology and existentialism and allows you to shape or conduct your character in a number of ways that affects how other characters react to your character. There are a number of skills that you can increase that will unlock certain actions for you in dialogue, interactions with objects and situations.

I highly recommend this game for it's originality. The artwork is gorgeous, the characters are all unique and very fleshed out and have a story to them. I was very impressed. It is in the vein of Planescape torment.

It has a decent level of replayability because you can customize or pick from premade characters that have different skill focuses. The story is on rails and is pretty linear however the outcomes along the way with your interactions are affected by your ideology, persona and your skill checks.

I recommend this game, but not for intellectually faint at heart as they will likely not appreciate it.

People miss the point of DayZ. Its about the experiences you have with friends and the fact that there is no endgame. It is not for the impatient or those that hate to die and lose your gear over and over again, because that will happen. Its not a question of whether or not you will die, its a question of when. The map is immersive and based on a real piece of land in the Crimea.

The only unique sandbox military survival sandbox on the market, its not Rust, its not ARK, it's DayZ.

If you are looking for instant gratification and fast paced consistent action then this game is not for you. Stick to CoD or PUBG.

Otherwise buckle up and prepare to get sucked in and make new friends and enemies if you will let yourself see DayZ for what it really is - an experience you create for yourself.

This game is well worth it if you are into a tactical challenge. I am still learning the ropes but the game has much to offer. With infinite map seeds and multiple starting scenarios, this is a turn based tactical RPG sandbox that will keep you busy for hours. Sometimes you have to pray that RNG is on your side because it can work for you or against you!

The atmosphere and difficulty of this game is amazing especially with the Misery Mod. I highly recommend this game for anybody looking for an atmospheric challenge that will have you dying like crazy until you learn the ropes and then you will still die anyways because it's the dark souls of FPS.

Anybody who loves Russian and post-apoctalyptic atmosphere will enjoy this game.

The story is pretty simple but the atmosphere and challenge is why people play STALKER not the story.

My ruler became a raving lunatic who then became a cannibal who also gave birth to a possessed daughter who murdered all of my heirs in their sleep leading to the end of my dynasty.

Would do it all over again.

Amazing storywriting, just amazing. Never been so satisfied with a DLC i don't think ever, at least for this genre. Highly recommend it.

I bought this on sale for 5 bucks and am not impressed with how cartoony it looks.

I played the originals and love them. My advice, if you want to pay the originals just go to gog.com and buy them there.

The game is a classic that has been unintentionally ruined by this developer with unnecessary ui changes and graphical updates.

I highly recommend this game to any strategy buff. It is better than Total War and Civ by far IMO due to its design.

It is real time and may seem complicated to play with the overwhelming interface, but it really isn't. Their are no resources like food or wood to micromanage for example, all you have to worry about on the surface is stability, unrest and your income. Other things like war exhaustion and aggressive expansion come into play also during conquest.

The diplomacy in this game is the most functional I have ever encountered in a strategy game and has real consequences. You can know based on your diplomatic score how nations will react to you most of the time which comes in very handy. For example, when deciding to declare war on a common foe unlike Total War or Civ you will know beforehand if they will join you or not based on various factors, you will also know whom you will be up against.

Diplomacy is essential to your survival, and can really make or break your game. You are not likely to survive or progress in the early to mid stages of the game if you do not form alliances. If you are too aggressive and ♥♥♥♥ off the wrong people, coalitions will form and attack you and force you to give up territories.

The game is real time and you can adjust the speed to speed up during slower times in between conquests or to slow down to micromanage your troops and events at a pace that is comfortable for you.

This was a breath of fresh air for me coming from Total War Rome 2 where campaigns can take 40 hours or more to complete. Depending on how fast you set the time it is possible to finish a campaign depending on your goals in around 10-12 hours. Additionally, all nations are available to play each presenting the player with a unique challenge and experience.

This game is a sandbox game, so there are no "victory conditions" unlike in Civilization or Total War, which gives you total freedom to pursue Ironman achievements, focus on building a trade empire, colonize, lead a crusade, overthrow the Holy Roman Empire, become the Emperor and many more. For example, you can play as The Ottomans who have the best starting position in the game or you can play as The Knights of Rhodes who have nothing but a tiny island and are in one of the worst starting positions in the game, being threatened by The Ottomans for a different challenge. It is totally up to you. There is nothing more satisfying than triumphing as a small nation over larger foes through skill and diplomacy.

Every game plays out differently due to the AI RNG which allows for almost infinite replayability.
There are many achievements to get that are very rewarding and challenging if you play in Ironman mode.

DLC:

There are quite a few DLC that are essential to getting the full experience out of the game. They are good in that they add new features that are blocked behind a paywall in the base game but bad in that you have to pay extra for them. The reality is that most of them are not essential to the game but Art of War and Common Sense should be the ones any player has at a minimum.

The DLC can be found on sale typically during steam sales for very cheap or you can go to 3rd party sites to find them for an affordable price if you don't want to pay full price.

The learning curve is steep and I am still learning things so it is highly recommended that you search the wiki and watch YouTube videos to learn the fundamentals of the game as the tutorial is seriously lacking.

Overall as a complete game. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is currently IMO the best grand strategy game on the market even with the DLC business model.

This game isn't bad and I like the setting.

My only gripes with the game are the poor diplomacy, long turns that lead to extremely long games, poor ai and locked nations.

I recently started playing Europa Universalis 4 and have never looked back.

So do I recommend Rome2? Yes if you can stomach a full campaign lasting you anywhere from 30 hours or longer. Otherwise stay away.
