Has elements of Mass Effect and X-Com, but whilst those are both great games this is not.

The gameplay is not interesting enough. The AI is appalling - your two companions can't shot anything at all - if you ever run out of ammo you will end up running past the enemy to pick more up as your sidekicks are so ineffectual and the enemy aren't much better.

The storyline was rather drab so far. It has some nice elements - with the base being a paired down verstion of a cross between X-Com and Mass Effect. In fact everything is a paired down version of both but missing all the best elements from both games.

The main problem is that the game is so incredibly dull.

This game is one of the best, most frustrating, enjoyable, irritating, and downright unique action RPG.

The game is difficult to start with, but there is always a way. Once you learn the mechanics and the quirks of different NPC's and different levels, most sections are very straightforward. Although if you become too cavalier you will die.

You really need the following mods to play the game:
DSfix - essential.
DMfix - you may have to search around to find the version that works, I think there is a steam forum that links to this. The original version of this doesn't work. Without it you can't really play wth mouse and keyboard as the controls are appalling.
DSCfix - this makes the online part of the game actualy work properly.

Without those mods the frustration becomes far greater than any possible enjoyment. With them it can still, but the game itself is so great you can forgive poor camera controls that cause you to die, poor targeting that causes you to die sometimes, and the many other odd quirks and poor design choices in an otherwise superb game.

An OK action RPG. The begining of the game is actualy very enjoyable but the game soon becomes flat and dull with too much generic filler content and a lack of variation in the combat.

Utterly fantastic! A sandbox space combat and exploration game. Well executed and tottally addictive. Until Elite comes out this is the best game of it's type. Perhaps it will remain so after Elite.

A great game, very underrated. In many respects similar to an Elder Scrolls game with the same freedom of movement, collecting alchemy ingredients, running around doing quests, and the same sense towards the end of the game that you can destroy everything with ease.

Enemies tend to be in either groups of average strength or single or pairs of overwhelming strong enemies. They have to be managed differently, and archery is actually very usefull especialy when facing large number of archers who can disarm you and do decent levels of damage.

The first 30 minutes of the game is a grind but get past that and the game becomes very enjoyable.

One of the really enjoyable things about the game is that the guards of towns are no stronger than they should be. So if you are able to take down a cyclops or slay a dragon you don't get the sillyness of guards being able to bash you up. In fact if you want you can rampage through the world slaying everyone and reserecting people afterwards. It's slightly over the top but it really adds to the enjoyment.
