Ultrakill ruined FPS games for me

Ultrakill might resemble the new wave of boomer shooters with it's art style and low poly count but it belongs more to the DMC bloodline than Doom's.
Not only does the game offer a lot of mobility to allow for bigger and more absurd battles, it's inter-weapon synergy has completely spoiled me on the genre.

Every weapon has cool tricks to learn. You can rapidly switch between shotguns to get more DPS than waiting for the reload. You can parry your own shotgun shells to punch them into an enemy for bonus damage and an explosion. Obviously you can do both if you're fast enough and (as someone who sucks at FPS) I respect how much can be achieved not just through raw skill but by building muscle memory.

Shotgun tricks are only scratching the surface because weapons also synergise with eachother to do some incredible things. Ultrakill's guns all fun to use with unique tricks and tech, and crucially they have different interactions with other guns and various enemy types.
Not only can your rocket launcher shoot a heavy impact cannonball, you can shoot that cannonball before it hits the ground, making it explode.
As you gain an understanding of your arsenal you'll find yourself constantly switching weapons, and not just because the style meter asks you to.

On the downside, this is a game that inherently needs it's mechanics explained.
You can have a fun enough time using only in-game hints and experimentation but the game is so dense with tricks that you'd be missing out.
Fortunately, the community loves to show off weapon and movement tech and to test every new trick to the extreme so there are no shortage of guides.

This game is a 10/10 for me and I can't think of anything the full release could do to ruin that.
