What can I say about Kayne and lynch...

Well it's been a guilty pleasure of mine since it's release for the Xbox 360, where a close friend of mine and I hired it out from the local video/game rental store and finished it with much glee. Glee we later discovered the online community did not share, as we enetered matchmaking mode to find that we were the only two souls on the planet looking for a group to play fragile alliance for Xbox 360, but I digress. Kayne and Lynch has an engaging story underpinned by what could have been decent arcadesque gameplay, that would have given an emphasis to the flow of the experience rather than nit picking item aquisition that plagues many other games. The most painful part of this aspect is that it almost does, giving you enough tantalisation to pay the meager couple of bucks to get it and play it, only to find an otherwise diamond experience, lodged in the clay with you struggling to remove it. Whilst entirely non-regretting in the loose change I parted with for this game I can't help but feel a small pang of sorrow at what have could have been. Pay the 2$, grab a controller, friend and some piss and marvel at the spectacle that cost Jeff Gerstmann his career and gamespot their credibility.

I went into playing this game with some pretty high expectations. Realistic ballistics, concealment usage, as well as settings. Upon starting the co-operative campaign on authentic however, I was met by cart-wheeling germans, weird physics and soldiers made concrete. Strangely enough this didn't ruin my experience though. Not taken seriously it's a whacky african shoot about requiring the intellectual capacity of a ham sandwich.
