Why the ♥♥♥♥ would you even BOTHER playing a Fighting Game without Motion Controls?!?
Without the skill requirement of an additional directional input, there is no reason to pick anyone but whoever has the best frame data & best coverage angles.
There's no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point to that. At least with platform fighters like Smash Bros, you have to take into account positioning, distance, & health percentage.
Combos in a 2d fighter is a string of attack canceling to connect into each other, with motion inputs required for powerful finishers to end that combo meaningfully. Combos in a platform fighter is a matter of what attack to use, if they're at the right percentage for it to work, the weight of both characters in use, along with a whole slew of other information that requires split second recognition.
