Overall, this is a great immersive SWAT game. Ready or Not puts you in the role of a swat team operative, leading a team of AI or going into operations with friends. Customization of your kit and individual items is really good, letting you create loadouts for different tools and armor setups in addition to guns and ammunition types. I can assure you, the variety of deployments will require you to change things up and be prepared for a variety of engagements from tweaked out meth heads to well organized terrorist militias with their own assault gear. Traps and ambushes are a thing, and careful consideration and tactics are key in this game as damage is more on the realistic side of things. Overall its a blast to play and replay with randomized spawns and setups for every scenario. Its also refreshing how the devs don't seem to pull their punches with emulating the kind of scenarios SWAT teams may have to deploy on, from busting drug rings to responding to active shooters and psychopathic killers. You'll be accounting for noncombatants as well, trying to keep them safe and under control while managing the situation (non lethal tools are great in this aspect). Its even possible to clear scenarios without having to resort to lethal force and opt for tasers, pepper ball guns, and stinger grenades. It all really depends on how you and your team are kitted out vs the situation you are dropping in on.

At the time of this review its still in its early stages and not quite a full release yet, so expect some hiccups and changes in level format and challenge. Honestly at this point I feel like they mostly balanced the enemy AI, though sometimes I still bear witness to the rare occurrence of a hostile who is the next John Wick and one shots half your team with a pistol from a window two floors above you blindfolded...or the enemy that takes cover being the invincible glass and phases his hand through it just enough to shoot past it and drop you. All that said, its still a solid tactical game that I'm sure will be more and more refined and balanced as it gets to full release.
