I didn't expect this game to be so good when I bought it. I haven't finished the story yet; so far I enjoy it but I really want to praise the actual card game. Most single player card games get stale after you build a perfect deck that almost always wins. In kamifuda this approach will not work; every time you duel against a different deck with a specific play style, and later on they will destroy you if you don't build your deck around countering it (for example, after few fairly normal duels you go up against a deck that has effectively no damaging spells but instead only had healing and damage prevention and will win by stalling you out of HP). This means that every duel feels fresh and requires you to think instead of going through the motions of playing your favourite combo every time.

Rules themselves are fairly simple and easy to grasp, much simpler than more conventional card games. There is no stack, there are no interrupts or counterspells. If you played any mainstream card game you'll get it in no time. Even with that, there are many possible playstyles you can build your deck around, thanks to variety of keywords and mechanic on cards themselves.

Overall, Kamifuda is a breath of fresh air in the genre and I'd recommend it to both card game enthusiasts and newbies alike.

There is a good game here somewhere, but it's crippled by the same thing many other civ clones suffer from: the AI is dumb as a brick wall. On macro level, it's extremely passive, just waiting for you to invade with only a little resistance, doesn't seem to expand as much as it could and is probably really bad at managing its economy. On tactical level, it doesn't understand different types of units, terrain, anything, if its armies have more power it will fight and otherwise it will ruin away, so it's very easy to cheese it with choke points and ranged units.

It's sad because I really enjoy all the mechanics (except maybe the war support can feel scuffed at times but it's not fundamentally broken, just needs some adjustments) but even if the game was otherwise perfect it doesn't matter if you don't have anyone to play it with. I'd love to try multiplayer but finding people for multiple multi hour sessions is difficult. If a mod or update fixes the AI the game would be so good, but right now I can't recommend it unless you decide to play multiplayer.

The game is good, however if you're turn based strategy veteran you'll soon find the AI is... pretty bad, and higher difficulty levels only give it more resources while not making it any smarter. But do not despair! Install Vox Populi mod and this game becomes 20 times better.

Świetna gra. Supergiant jest znany ze świetnych postaci i Hades jest tego najlepszym przykładem. Gameplay również jest wspaniały, dla weteranów podobnych gier może być zbyt łatwy ale po pierwszej udanej ucieczce odblokowany zostaje system dodatkowych wyzwań. Bezdyskusyjnie gra roku.

This is, without exaggerating, the best adventure game I've ever played.
