By itself I recommend the game. I do however note that this game is a pale comparison to the Typing of the Dead on the Dreamcast. The gameplay is the same, but the original had a more involved analysis of your typing that would actually show your your weak spots. The boss fights in the original had more signature charm since the typing required to kill them were stories or essays typed out a sentence at a time, rather than just the same terse phrases used to kill common zombies.
This game fills a unique niche that can't be found anywhere else on Steam, but if you somehow have the chance to play the Dreamcast version, take that one.

This game is a wonderful parody of hard-boiled noir. The protagonist even looks like Humphrey Bogart, at least before he shaves his head. The entire game is either narrated with Max's poetic tough guy narration or a shootout with the numbers heavily stacked against you. The actual game is fun, as good as any other 3rd-person shooter and worth playing for that reason alone. I found the overblown narration about personal nihilism, drinking to excess and all the usual complaints of an noir anti-hero delightful. Some might find it unnecessary or out of place when compared to the cartoonish level of violence in the actual gameplay. I don't. I love everything about it.

The game has quite a bit of a learning curve. You'll spend the first five hours dying constantly. These hours of doing nothing much but dying and occasionally nailing an enemy player with a bolt-action rifle are worth the effort. Once you get in the swing of how the game is played it's just wonderful. The ducking for cover, waiting and hoping the sniper who almost shot you found another target to prey on, miraculously finding your way past the front line to flank a whole enemy squad. The weight of your actions and outcomes in this game are much heavier than Battlefield.

It got me hooked within the first level. It started of easy and the difficulty smoothly increased. The traps are inventive and a delight to watch when several of them work together to obliterate a horde of orcs. Probably the best tower defense game I've ever played.

I found the game to be aggravating. The game itself is quite breathtaking in all its aesthetics. Once you move past the prettiness the nuts and bolts of playing the game did not thrill me at all, which is made up of exploring levels to find glowing balls or combat with a narrow variety of enemies. Combat is limited to one-on-one every time and I don't think I ever grasped how combat is effectively handled. Crawling around the (very pretty) levels looking for the orbs was fun the first few times. This fun dissipated very quickly. This concept of Prince of Persia would've been better off as an animated feature.
