I can't recommend this game.
The dev team was closed down.
Don't expect any more updates for this game.

Unfortunate as this was a fun game to play.

The Devs are actively patching the game. I believe their been 5 updates and hopefully they keep kicking out more.

Overall from the few hours I have played - It is a unique game with the RTS / FPS mix.

Their is a lot of scavenging up front but hopefully thru out the game and increased difficulty we get more intense tower defense missions.

The game takes place on a remote planet where the player must manage a group of survivors who have crash-landed on the planet. The game offers three different game modes: a story mode with a linear narrative, a random scenario generator, and a sandbox mode with no restrictions.

One of the most impressive aspects of RimWorld is the depth of its gameplay mechanics. The player must manage the colonists' needs, from hunger and thirst to mental health and social interactions. The game also has a robust crafting system, allowing the player to create everything from weapons and clothing to furniture and buildings.

Another unique feature of RimWorld is the event system, which generates random events that can have a significant impact on the player's colony. These events can range from friendly traders arriving at the colony to massive raids by hostile factions or even natural disasters like fires and storms.

The graphics of RimWorld are not the most advanced, but they are still impressive, with a charming and distinctive art style that perfectly captures the game's sci-fi setting.

Overall, RimWorld is an outstanding game that offers an impressive depth of gameplay mechanics, a unique event system, and a charming art style. It is a must-play for any fan of colony management or sci-fi games.

This is my first ever roguelike deck building game.
I was hesitant at first as some said it was too easy and others said it was too difficult.

After biting the bullet to try it out - I can happily say I have found an enjoyable yet challenging game.

I am about 6 Hours in and have failed to complete a single run yet.I’ll probably read up on some guides later but I did finally get to the third instance of a single run but quickly got destroyed and had to start a new run. The game also offers other classes (9 I believe so far) So as you complete one class thru an entire run you can move onto the next - You do have to earn them as you go but 6 hours in I believe I have 3 - 4 unlocked.

I am excited for the future of this game and updates as they come out. For the base price of the game - it is worth it. If you get it on sale, it is a steal.

Not sure why there so much hate for this game.

First impressions of the game.
You get to create your own leader / avatar. You get to choose from 6-8 personality traits. Choose your outfit, your symbol , colors and other things.

- Only thing here is I wish for the avatar creation is you could change each clothing item
Would add a little more customization but overall great idea.

Let’s do some compare and contrast between Humankind and Civ.

When you start the game in Civ.
You start with a scout and settler.
You find a place to settle and off you go building your civilization.

In humankind you start with a warrior / scout type unit.
In the first ERA (Neolithic Era)
Every tribe starts off as a Nomadic Tribe with one of three objectives.

Have a certain population to move onto the next Era.
Have a certain amount of knowledge to move into the next Era.
Kill an amount of animals to move into the next Era.

Typically this can take 15-30 turns to get onto the next era.

However during this you are also searching for land to find and place an outpost (that will be your first city)

Personally I enjoy this more than Civ as it keeps the early game more open and not as stressful. (Most of the time)

When you move onto the next era - you will need to obtain 7 era stars to move into the next era.

All Eras

Neolithic
Ancient
Classical
Medieval
Early Modern Era
Industrial Era
Contemporary Era

———

From here you can see some differences as you play.

In Civ you are designing a single culture / civilization.

In human kind as you advance era you are adopting new cultures and improving your civilization with bonuses of other civilizations from history.

Wonders:
In Civ first come first serve. You could have 1 turn left but some else was ahead of you by 1 turn.

In humankind you select what Wonder you want with influence locking it in for you.

——

There so much more I could get into.

However, the final thing.

If you have been playing Civ forever you may just want to try it out on gamepass and try out the multiplayer. Personally each one has it own differences. Personally I think Humankind brings more depth to how I can build my civilization.

Few bugs to note.

Gamepass is having issues with allowing users to play multiplayer.

Steam is good to go. Played with a friend today.

When you load humankind the screen is black for 1-2 minutes.
No idea why - assuming it taking forever to load but it does get there.

In game bugs:
At times when I try to move the map with my WSDA keys it won’t work until I click a unit.
Little things.

Game Performance

The game plays smooth and I have no issues at all. I do have a higher end computer with all my drivers up to date.

Overall: if your looking for something new to try this is it.

Early Access Review
After 10 attempts of playing - I can confidently say I can almost hold my own against the horde.

There is a decent learning curve for this game.
If you are looking for a difficult RTS with multiple ROE, objectives and more - This is it

Didn't the sun just set?
If you are looking for a time consuming game that will bring hours of fun and challenges into the late hours. Here it is. Multiplayer is great - Single Player is great. Definitely worth the $30.00 asking price.

Prologue Review
Riftbreaker brings you into a world of Automation type game play and in depth combat.
Graphically this game in my opinion is 10/10. Through exploring, being in combat, or building outpost you will be engulfed in a vivid world.
Game play so far this game in it current stages is further than most EA games and this is still in Alpha.
When you start the prologue you don't feel as the game is not a finished product and there nothing to do. You start on a decent size map and have plenty to work towards with killings "Hives" (Enemy Strongholds) To building outpost to further your mining.
If you are looking for a original game and something new to experience go ahead a pick up this game. The future of this game is incredible.
