This has all the best elements of a deep well written RPG, and its also a damn good Warhammer game at the same time.

It's fun for a few rounds on the toilet, or if you need to kill 15 min or so doing something, but don't get invested. You'll just end up with more frustration then you need for game of this calibre.

Monetisation is nothing short of disgusting.
Though the game presents you with a lot of ways of earning cards, once you pass that int ital start-up phase as a new player, which might I add has fixed cards, it's going to a slug-fest until you grind out any of the better cards that decks rely on.
The game was built to make you want to spend. DON'T!

Matchmaking is a mess. I've played my share of card games, but never have I felt it this hard that a game is set on matching me up with counter-picks.
The amount of time I ran into opponents who's deck made absolutely no sense, other than to completely counter whatever I had on me is more then a coincidence. At the very least 1/3rd of my matches were like that. Another 1/3rd of the game is when the random fields are almost perfectly lining up to annoy you. Half of those fields are designed to play the game instead of you. And the remaining 1/3rd was clearly with wales, with decks that had half their decks filled with the premium paid skins, and all the new released cards, that are always overpowered at release.

So that approximately 1 out of every 6 matches is when I don't feel like smashing my phone in 2 pieces.

This should be the new norm.
This is not an anomaly or some inexplicable unique case in the gaming world. They didn't have a larger team, or a deeper pocket then any of other AAA studios out there, and yet put all of them to shame in an almost comical way, as they try to give reason as to why this is so good compared to everything else.

It's an example of the quality of game we should get when a development team knows what it wants, how to deliver it, and is not hindered by publishers looking only the raw numbers, with expectations of further in game spending.

Larian was looking at the big picture by creating a game, that's worth every penny of its asking price, with no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, knowing well, that people will happily pay their due for what is on offer, and will likely line up to buy whatever will be next in line for them.

One of the best in the genre.

It's a classic that still looks great and plays as well as anything released today. It stood the test of time flawlessly.

Sine I really like the universe of 40k as well as the XCOM games, I thought this would be a match made in heaven.
It has all the elements of a great game, with the gameplay, customization, story etc.

But my god the difficulty spike in this game ...
I mean its actively working towards making your play sessions into pure frustration.

I restarted the game on normal difficulty 3 times before giving up and starting it on easy to get past 300 day mark (game has a time advancement mechanic).
But the thing is that it didn't help. You are locked into 4 team squads while the game just swarms your map with enemies groups that have increasingly more units per squad, as well as higher tiered ones.

Meanwhile my guys can barely recover from one mission tot he other before getting hammered again.

And if you get missions with a timer on them, it becomes borderline impossible as objectives are placed randomly too far away from one another and you, with more then enough enemy units in your way, and expects you to just rush with no regards to your units well being, that either results in a win with your whole squad in critical condition, or running out of time.

I'm constantly out of resources, as the games random events constantly keep my ship and crew on the down, as well as punishing with stupidly long research and repair timers, to make sure I feel like I haven't progressed at all.

I can understand wanting to provide a blood pissing challenge to those who want to take part in them, but we have 4 difficulties, and easy on this would pass for a hard in any other game.
I mean how hard is it to allow the fully casual player, who just wants to enjoy the gameplay, setting and story without to much of a fuss?

I'm burned out by the need to constantly have to revert to old saves.

Visuals of the game are absolutely great, and sets the mood for the game well, but that alone wont keep me around long enough to recommend this to anyone thinking playing this in the realm of "casual" fun. Nothing about this game is casual, and the 3 stage tutorial took me more then 2 hours which means I can't even refund this thing ...

If you aim to play this casually, skip it. It's not meant for you. The game has a lot of different gameplay elements or mechanics you have to learn and keep in mind to be even remotely decent from just playing a few hours every now and then.

I've heard nothing but praises in terms of this game sound design and how integral it is to the experience. But in all fairness the sound you generate are so loud it feels like someone hits my head with a jackhammer, and every sound generated by other players sound like it's coming from a broken TV that was dropped in mud.

Either I can't hear a thing from the I sound I generate or everything sounds like it's right next to me. I'm literally moving crouched the whole game because I barely make out what's where even then. I don't have the newest headphones on the market, but they weren't the cheapest either, so it should fit the needs of the game. I've also read articles and guides on how to set my audio but it didn't make a difference what so ever.

So far most of my deaths are related to me being confused and looking around like maniac over where the sounds are coming from.

Gunplay is also a mixed bag, as weapon range from feeling absolutely useless to sluggish. So if you can't really make out the noises and your aim isn't on point you're pretty much doomed.

I've had matches where the game starts me out with dual weapons, which forces you to use the dual wielded, and couldn't get a hit on a target that was standing mostly still 15-20 feet from me.

Had shotguns that down the target from a single body shot one match, took me 2 shots to kill another one that was already bleeding the next one.

The only single player content int he game are the trials, which also don't offer much fun for the casual player, as it's a set of challenges that can only be finished with set items, that serve to hinder you therefore become a source of frustration rather then fun set of challenges for some additional items in game.

An absolute blast to play.
It can be a bit tedious and frustrating to get the classes/heroes level to get the better ability cards, but thankfully you can level them any way you want.
Co-op gameplay is a fast and easy way to do just that as you get used to all the different classes and heroes, plus you can rack-up some serious kill streaks that will help unlock the weapons as well.

My only 2 gripes with the game are:
- that there is no option to download only the MP portion if you no longer need the story content, which is passable, making the game take up a good chunk on your drive
- EA has stopped further development on the game when it was at it's peak. Makes absolutely no sense, given that the devs had some good ideas for further content. The Modding community will scratch that itch however ...

Let me be short on this one. This game is an improvement in all aspects but 1.
The gameplay, the visuals, the sound, the quality of the loot and the generosity by which the game offers said loot. All top tier, worth every penny period. And you need not play the previous entries to enjoy these, but it would be a damn shame not to do so.

The only thing I cannot, and will not praise is the story. And that's because the 2 main villains, the Calypso twins,. Their character traits are annoying, their powers are the most generic "plot armour" type ability in existence and their jokes are straight up ♥♥♥♥ every single time. There is absolutely no redeeming quality, that would warrant their existence in any fictional work. It's actually ironic, as their ability is to suck the life-force or abilities from anyone with ease (... yeah they went whit that one), and were so effective, they are literally sucking the fun out of the game every second they speak or appear on screen.

Other then those 2, every character is well designed, and the dialog is hilarious.

It's a fun and casual survival game.
Despite its surprisingly small size, they managed to bring out some good visuals with the low poly style.

They also went easy on the survival elements which makes it more accessible and fun then other similar titles.

And considering that this is an early access title ... it's just surprising. Really. What little bugs or glitches I encountered, if you can even consider them those, are very easily forgotten.
