About the game.

Path of Exile is an action RPG set in the realm of "Wraeclast".
As one of many about to be hanged, for crimes you may or may not have committed, you escape.
Thus, your story begins in Path of Exile 2.

Path of exiles unique approach to the ARPG genre is that characters are not hard locked into a given role such as "warrior" or "wizard", any character can do *ANYTHING* you want. Some characters however are more adept in certain roles than others initially.

Want to be a warrior with an undead army? A wizard who wears heavy armor, tanky but still able to cast lighting upon their foes? Path of exiles unique skill gem system along with their vast array of skills within the skill tree, allow for many combinations of abilities to cater towards both active and passive playstyles.

The story of Path of exile 2 has been a joy so far, some of the characters do have interesting dialogue but none too detailed.

My favorite character however has to be the main villain of Act 1, the build up as you hear how infamous they've become, the post's left and voiced by him as you progress, it all leaves such a strong impression that is surpassed by one of my favorite boss fights in a video game.

I'm excited for when the full game releases.

The gameplay in Path of exile does, like diablo 4, add a dodge roll mechanic to help players avoid attacks.
I admit I didnt play much of the original game, so I cannot vouch for how different POE2 is for a veteran player.

however, I will say, as a Titan main, I was able to almost completely ignore this mechanic since I just maxed my heavy armor and max health as much as I could in order to face tank my way through many encounters.

Towards the end of the game, I was able to deal with most elements with ease but poison does still kill me quickly, we're working on it.

I will say however, the way the end game is currently introduced left me with many questions.
- What is the point of end game in POE2?
-How does this 'atlas' work?

Personally, without friends to currently play any endgame content with, I dont care too much to play the end game of Path of exile, it is nice to get a character to the apex of their potential but for me, its null if theres nobody to share that power with. I'm not self motivated enough to grind much past the story.

I do know that the atlas activites are quite varied but the start of the atlas so far has been quite generic much like last epoch, it's initially just focused on your clearing maps.

I think once the game comes out and theres more story to play, its going to be hopefully explained more.

Overall, when the game releases, this is going to be free and I think its worth playing upon official release just for the story.

If you like ARPG games and want something to grind, POE2 early access does offer a fair amount of content in the end game and many skill tree's to just max out.

If you dont care about the end game and just want to play for the story, wait for the official release so you can play for free.

Only pvp, not the only issue but one of the concerns.
If the game plans on going F2P I get this is a marketing thing to just force pvp like in WoT or Crossout or Warthunder ect and im tired of it.
Add PVE , it will not harm your game. Don't limit it to only x games a day either.

Secondly, I've never played a "war robots" game before but this is just too narrow in scope.
No melee arms/weapons. Take notes from Mechwarrior 5 maybe.

There's "some" customization sure but its all flavors of the same Bipedal gun boi shoot here. Get some real variety in the movement and parts. For example maybe add a tonnage system to replace the focus on classes and introduce a quadroped and triped platform or even treads like in armored core. Make bipeds have less tonnage but more nimble, more power for the engine to help with turn speed.

In my opinion just wait for mechbreak to come out.

I think this game was made for phones. Its just too narrow and it has a F2P model after the early access period so not here to to have 6 flavors of biped nonsense.

Just buy factorio, this game isnt engaging enough to keep my attention. Just the same cycle of build gather build for no reason other than building. There's nothing threatening, there's no real combat. Factorio actually has mechanics that force you to evolve BECAUSE the world is so hostile. This game is kinda just a waste of space and I only own if because my friend doesnt want to play Factorio.

GPU: 7900xt
CPU 5800x3D
32GB DDR4 Ram 3200Mhz
Drive NVME crucial 6400MBS transfer rate.

Average FPS for me has been 82 according to adrenaline works

playing at 1440p with everything on high not ultra.

My issue graphically is it seems theres an odd stutter when turning.

I like the vibe/asthetic of this game a lot.

It's tarkov but only PVE and you need to be very careful.

I think so far this game really needs to move the whole camera the heck back. FOV slider is a MUST. Feels like im at 50 FOV.

Character takes up a massive part of the screen.

I also wish I could either toggle first person or third and nod ADS to first person all the time.

You get around this by making a open lobby for them to join in game.

The devs were honest about this being EARLY ACCESS.
Don't expect space marine 2 polish from an indie dev who has been transparent about game performance.

I think once the invite issue is ironed out this might be a great game later down the road.

I have one major issue however. I like to rotate games and play something else sometimes.
In Forever Winter, if your base runs out of water, you LOSE EVERYTHING.

I think thats not a fair deal. If I want to take time away from the game, that shouldnt be punishing me, PERIOD!
Make it so we lose character xp or lose access to all the shops and base upgrades sure, but wiping inventory because I want to play something else is just silly. If they dont fix that, I will change my review to negative.

Edit: Devs fixed the matchmaking issues. +1

I'll rewrite the review later to properly provide thoughts but if you liked action games from the 2010 era, buy this game.

I only had one crash and overall the optimization is amazing!

Gunplay is too floaty and there's no real reason to play aliens.

This has potential but I really need to play more before I write my thoughts in full. I've been playing starcraft since I was a literal todler and my elder sibling decided it would be funny to teach a baby starcraft. It's not an exaggeration to say I GREW UP playing RTS games. I'm dying to know if this will hold up and so far it has some things I like, a piece of the campaign ( early access ), a coop mode like SC2 and reg versus. They plan on making a map editor like SC2 and introducing custom games like the SC2 arcade. If they can make a new SC2, that's all I really need. So far it has my vote but it will be F2P eventually.

Not sure if it was changed or anything but I can play EDF just fine without a EGS account. It's more EDF and I still enjoy the series.
