This game can be best compared to XCOM: Chimera Squad rather then to XCOM 2.
I started my first game on regular difficulty just to get a feel, but honestly, if you have played Xcom (on higher difficulty) before, I recommend Elite difficulty.
Minor spoiler:I’ve been able to play the game since 1st of march.
The game felt just a bit too short, it took me about 20 hours to beat and it was disappointing when I reached a certain point.

If you ignore everything related to online, I will recommend this game.
However, everything beside the online experience has been neglected, this includes anti cheat software.

Currently the online experience is like this:
Online is basically always a warzone.
Griefers, Try-hards will hunt and kill everyone present in the lobby.

Cheaters (mod menu abusers) will either:
do weird and funny stuff in the lobby or troll everyone in the lobby by many different ways like: constantly exploding everyone, spawning random props like a campfire or even worse letting your phone ring endlessly.
Many of these things will stick to you until you quit the game, Either manually or forced by the cheaters.

Conclusion: either play the single player, with or without mods.
But avoid the “online” at all cost! With the exception of FiveM

P.S. the online is only playable for the first couple of hours after a release of a game update, because most mod menu's will be busted and unusable until they have been patched.
