Hope this helps others with regards to the ownership verification:
Bought this today on sale and was hit by that #### useless launcher's error message of ownership verification.
On said #### useless launcher un-link your steam account then launch the game again via steam.
This forces steam and ubisoft to connect and there I got a message confirming if I wanted to add Anno to my ubisoft library.
Piece of #### launcher, hope it helps others

Alrighty so...

A rather simple game where your stats affect your daily life as a princess. Beginning of the week you choose your classes to study in order to increase your stats and your mood affects your progress of each class.

The objective of the game is to survive 52 weeks until your coronation, while your decisions definitely have an effect on whether if you will be exposed to danger, your stats will determine whether if you survive the various ways you could be killed.

You can choose to resolve disputes/ problems in multiple ways and the higher you are with the relevant stat the more options open up (eg. high Military - Strategy stat will allow you to select an option to go straight into war instead of parley)

Having played it for a little amount of time I am loving the various options and consequences of my actions and it definitely has a high replay value

The only con I have found in this game is that the ending is somewhat the same no matter how you survive.
I have cleared the game using a militant and magical approach and have been executing people left right and center throughout the entire game and on the 51st week my citizens rebelled against me and I simply responded by burning a handfull of them with magic. Come 52nd week everyone was happily chanting "Long live the Queen" and I was kneeling down all gracefully and humbly in prayer accepting the crown... I wanted to be a tyrant... I wanted an ending picture of terror and despair... I wanted to be the Queen that ruled with power and cruelty.

Nonetheless I would recommend this to anyone who wants a challenge of the mind or simply a game where you feel like your choices matter.
