Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin feels like a 2000's era action game, fully reveling in the edgelord aesthetic and "too cool" character writing that's kind of a breath of fresh air for this era of highly story driven gaming. Jack's a simple man with a simple goal and you won't feel guilty about skipping cutscenes when Jack himself is doing his best to skip them as well.

The gameplay too, feels like those days of yesteryear, but with the right touches of modernization to keep it from feeling clunky. It's not Dark Souls, it's not Nioh, but neither is it Beyonetta or DMC. It just feels like an action game just trying to be itself, which is underrated in todays current landscape IMO.

It's an entertaining retelling of Final Fantasy with engaging combat and cool character build theory crafting

The "Intended gameplay experience" is an accurate representation of playing Warhammer while your opponent has loaded dice. Gaunt swarms will rip apart your armor in less than a second and tear your health apart just as quick, while your melee weapon doesn't do near enough damage to recoup the loss with their bloodborne-esque rally system. Warriors rarely stagger in melee, even when you use heavy attacks, allowing them to hit back or just shoot you in the face with impunity. Lack of control over health recovery is a serious issue: in the first Space Marine, where you can utilize heavy attacks to stun and execute enemies when you needed to, it lead to engaging gameplay decisions, Gretchin didn't even need to be staggered, you could just punch them in to bloody mist if they were ever close. Here, Gaunts *might* get staggered or marked for a follow up pistol shot (which, admittedly, feels good to execute), or they *might* do a Parryable attack that you can counter, which allows you to regain a single pip of armor. Already at full armor? nothing.

You have your rage mode to regen health, but it still doesn't provide enough of a boost to allow you to turn dire threats in to close victories, and it takes an eternity to recharge.

To make matters worse, weapons deal extremely little damage. Warriors sometimes taking 3-4 melta blasts at point blank to even become executable, let alone killed. The Bolt Sniper Rifle needs 4+ Headshots to kill a Warrior. You can dump ridiculous amounts of Plasma in to a Zoanthrope and have no idea if the thing is even taking damage.

The game will task you with standing in a zone to capture it, with 0 cover, and spawn wave after wave of ranged enemies from all sides leaving you to get torn apart in the crossfire or abandon the objective, making it take longer and allowing more enemies to spawn.

when I played Space Marine 1 and died, I feel like I could identify what I did wrong, make adjustments, and overcome the challenge. When I play Space Marine 2, I don't feel like that. The game does not feel fair, and the game just rubs salt in the wound by placing extra medicae pickups at the respawn point.

Are the bosses difficult? Yes. Can they be frustrating? Yes.

There are still no extra rewards for soloing a boss instead of using summons or ashes. There are items that give you extra damage dealt and reduced damage taken in the DLC. There are powerful new talismans, incantations, ashes of war, spells, and crystaltears that open up new options and approaches that might not have been possible before.

Play smarter, not harder.

A fun turn based JRPG that will not pull punches. Tried it on Switch when the original came out but the framerate was just so awful I couldn't enjoy it at all. Now it gets to run as smoothly as it deserves.

I liked this game as much as the next guy when it came out back in the day, but this is absolutely bare minimum effort port. couldn't even bother making proper control settings for it or enabling mouse controls. Would pay $10 for it because it is still a hefty game, but any more than that is a stretch if you aren't going for the nostalgia factor.

A very fun, yet still flawed action RPG. The campaign is still incomplete, despite it supposedly being full release, but honestly? it's worth the money as is. incredibly deep but not overly complex gives tons of material for theorycrafting, and best of all? there's still a ton of room for Last Epoch to grow.

I struggled a lot deciding whether or not I recommend Starfield, but while the gunplay and space battles are competent, and the story and characters aren't bad, everything else about it is skin-deep, like a feature-barren No Man's Sky.

Somehow, though, Bethesda manages to make things worse. Imagine, if you will, that Skyrim released with only the main quest. Then 8 months later they added the Companions! But only the radiant quests. The actual Companions storyline and equipment exclusive to the companions are sold separately. This is a disgusting practice.

I might not be a real Armored Core veteran, only really played For Answer (and pretty casually at that), but this still feels like coming home. While the customization might not be as in depth as it was back then (I cannot allocate extra RAM to improve my Mech's left arm rotational speed), the nitty gritty has been abstracted in to easier to digest but still present and relevant factors, and the differences in Leg parts (Bipedal vs. Reverse Joint vs. Quadraped vs. Tank) feels much more present to the casual player.

The ACS mechanic and needing to force Stagger on some harder targets (Especially those damn Tetra-walkers) can be a little frustrating at times, but I'm sure I just haven't found the right weapon set ups to deal with them. I'm also feeling a distinct lack of variety in shoulder parts, while 8 different flavors of missiles are cool, I would have liked some more kinetic weapons for the shoulders. I miss you GAN01-SS-GC my beloved.

All in all, awesome. You dig Giant Robots, I dig Giant Robots, we dig Giant Robots, chicks dig Giant Robots. Nice.
