A beautifully made platformer, from the art style, to the moving orchestral soundtrack, everything about this games look and feel fit together seemlessly.

I'd heard this game described as Super Meatboy-esc, but I wouldn't agree. While the controls and platforming, the movement and "puzzle solving" are tight and impressively done, I don't believe the game requires quite the white knuckled precision that Meatboy demands. The jumping feels extremely responsive, each ability that you unlock lets you traverse the terrain in a new and smart way, and make any amount of backtracking a breeze. The combat is also seemly, and while not very complex, adds enough to the game in terms of enemy tactics that you have to stay aware of your movements around them.

The story is heartfelt and really uses the art style to its advantage, though I will say, there is a moment towards the middle to end that is supposed to explain the main antagonists motives, and it leaves a lot to be desired, but I feel that the ending wraps up well enough.

The negatives for me were fairly minor. Some of the setpiece moments in the game, usually requiring you to race away from some impending insta-death, while they were good in the initial runs, giving you that thrill and pushing you along at breakneck pace, that was ruined by a couple deaths and having to rerun the same path multiple times. I didn't have too much of an issue with this but I can image some people running into a lot of trouble with these events and having the immersion and impact of the events lost to frustration.
Along with that I'd say the game wasn't exactly difficult. While there are plenty of later game areas that required precise movements and use of your abilities, and one screwup could mean death, the freedom of setting your own save points really took away a lot of what was supposed to make the game difficult. Run up against a tough spot? You could have your save right before it and just ram your head into it until you make it through, though even still most of these spots weren't too difficult and didn't require too many attempts at least for me.

Conclusion, its a really great, short game and I'd really recommend it to anyone who enjoys platformers of this type and want to see a beautiful game in motion.

After about 50 hours I finally finished my first playthrough. What an experience. Each boss posed new challenges and each new location new enemies that would surely kill me at one point or another. The story, though hidden in item descriptions and subtle hints, was absolutely incredible. Many times I found myself completing a boss fight only to learn bits of lore regarding the boss or their situation and would instantly feel regret for having killed them.

The gameplay was extremely solid. I played using a 360 controller and just felt like the game controlled exactly as it was surposed to. Very few times if any did I find myself upset with the controls over a death as most often it was of my own mistake. The camera could get a little wonkey at times but I feel that is to be expected with a 3rd person action game.

After defeating the final boss I sat back through the credits and listened to the music, absorbing the experience I'd just finished. Few games have me wanting more but this is one of those exceptions. The lore is there yet not wholey and it leaves me wanting more, wanting a better understanding of things so that I can better appreciate the world. I suppose that hunger is symbolic of a lot of the creatures of the world.

Dark Souls is a fantastic game and I can't wait until the Collectors Edition of Dark Souls 2 gets here. Give it a try, if it isn't for you then don't bash it. This game isn't for everyone and for some it will be too hard. If you find yourself stuck but as if you see and understanding under the games mechanics, then continue on. Learning the mechanics, the fighting, and the movements are key to enjoying the game.

A very enjoyable experience. I really loved the story this game told and the way it unfolds through the gameplay. I felt that this game was truly original in comparison to so many games coming out these days.

Combat is fun and never truly got old for me. The options or play are wide and very open. You aren't necessarily forced to play the game with only stealth versus going all out for blood. I played a solid mix of the two, using stealth when possible, but fighting 1 on 5 when I was cornered. A very fun and not always well done component of game design that I admire the developers for getting right.

Seriously, give this game a try if you are at all interested. It is short but it is well worth it even if only for one play through.

The combat gets repetitive, the dialoug isn't all that great, and the story is pretty goofy, but if you want an over the top bloody shoot-um-up this isn't a bad game. Quick playthrough, only took up to 5 - 6 hours to finish. The story, while over the top is just chest thumpingly masculine enough to keep you interested, if thats your thing!

A super simple and fun Tower Defense styled game. It puts a new spin on the classic TD and is quite enjoyable. The campaign is surprisingly long but worth it all.

Plays and looks like a classic arcade game and thats a great thing. Full of gratuitous violence, you'll love blowing pixelized enemies away with shotguns, beating heads in with baseball bats, and playing like every day is Halloween.

Fantastic fun and an amazing 80's styled retro soundtrack, you'll wanna finish this game if only to hear the credits song!

A fantastic horror adventure. This game focusses on a most often slow paced and crawling speed to keep you on edge. There are times where you will be moving fast though and those are some of the most tense moments I've faced in gaming.

The puzzles aren't too difficult and they allow the game to keep this great pacing.

The enemies are scarece but when they appear you either hide or die.

Fantastic game. Didn't hook me imediately but once it did I didn't want to stop. This game will pull your emotions left and right and have you making tough decisions throughout. Plays like a movie but in the end you feel closer to the characters because your actually determining their personality.

The gameplay was nothing to spectacular. Plays like any third person shooter I've ever tried. What gets you is the story. The grey moral line you follow throughout is what kept me hooked and the twist at the end was great too. Highly recommend this if only for a good story.

I recommend this game to everyone I hate. YOU WILL RAGE
