I got this free in a humble bundle, and I am glad I did not buy it. The game itself could be ok for an arcade driving game. The issue is that the game is designed to try and frustrate you into buying things. The first thing you do is open loot boxes, and there are even events that require doing things with a specific car which of course is paywalled. There is also a fair bit of particularly irritating designs on the tracks that is pretty obviously just trying to frustrate players even more into wanting upgrades. I would keep any children far from a game like this unless you want them hooked on shoveling money at games to buy wins.

Plays like an old playstation game, they didn't bother to give anything walking animations, so you get needlessly stuck on terrain you could easily navigate if it would do a simple rotate. Maybe they were trying to be cute, but it comes off as lazy.

Early Access Review
So far a solid upgrade from Warband, several hours in with no issues at all. Some of the games systems could use polishing, but this is to be expected with an early access, so far I have ran into nothing that prevents progress. The arenas have been greatly improved too, npcs spawn from various doors instead of in seemingly random locations, and they will less often mob you and only you. The combat is very similar, however an option for automatic blocking direction does not seem available, I suspect some people here calling the combat clunky may be people who were using that option and are not used to having to direct blocks. The graphics are reasonable given the real challenge of this game performance wise is rendering large battles of many actors at once. Towns etc are far more detailed, and the taverns have people playing music so it feels a lot more alive.

I look forward to mods/dlc similar to Brytenwalda/Viking conquest.

More fun than I thought it would be.
The AI is greatly improved over fs11, and there are some great mods to make it even better.

I used to love this game, I got it ages ago in the orange box and it has been a staple of my game collection for all those years. It was a great way to relax, jumping into a game in a matter of moments, playing whatever map or game mode I wanted. All on the official servers where there are no abusive admins or annoying ads.

I can no longer play that way. This game is no longer a relaxing way to blow people up and log off once I am done having fun. Now I must sit in a queue for 20 minutes at least, to play only a single game before having to leave the game and requeue. Should I choose to leave this game early I earn myself a leaver penalty so I cannot queue again for another 20 minutes, in casual mode. This penalty also triggers if the game should crash or disconnect. I also have little choice over which maps I want to play, and could get stuck playing a map I do not care for, or will be unable to play a map I am really in the mood for.

What would make me recommend this game again? Bring back the game as it was, and simply add the competitive mode on top of it. Let us play the game as it was, and let people who want the new stuff have it too. Everyone wins.

The one word I would use to describe this game is "mindblowing!"

This game is simply amazing, It is far and away one of the most thrilling experiences I have ever had. Being a life long fan of Alien, the thrill was even better.

Things I loved about it:

The environment is astonishing! The quality of the graphics is as good as it gets, on top of being optimized very well. Sometimes it feels so real you could swear you can reach out and touch the wall. There are some tweaks you can use to improve them just a bit more too.

The sounds build an environment of their own. The ambiance is perfect, just enough silence and just enough creepy sounds in the distance (often giving clues if you pay attention). Much of the time you must rely on sound to know where threats are. Headphones or surround sound will increase your experience with this game A LOT!

The music is great too, all right from the movie and put together so that it changes very smoothly, not always just as a direct indication of whats happening around you. Sometimes it picks up when you cannot be sure if there is something nearby, or it will remain quiet when the alien is near. No jarring music changes, it is very organic sounding.

Great characters and voice acting, sometimes the lip syncing is a little off, but all in all about as good as you would expect of a game. I instantly liked the main character, and had different feelings about everyone I met. They are varied and all have something about them that makes them stand out.

The AI is pretty good (I played the game on hard) The only real complaint I had about it was fixed with a simple mod. The Alien by default was "leashed" to you, meaning it was always nearby, and would almost always return from the direction he left. The mod I got removes this leash, meaning the Alien can wander more freely surprising you from any direction and hunting more based on its senses rather than a magic leash that keeps it by you. Even without the mod the Alien does not simply patrol the same way at any time, so there is always just enough risk when trying to move around of the Alien happening in your direction. Also worth noting with the AI is it learns from you, if you blast it with the flame thrower too much it will start to just stand there and watch you, waiting to see if you will keep doing it getting more bold. If you hide a lot it will stay very near the last place it heard you, if you move fast, it will start to drop into rooms at random hoping to surprise you (sometimes it succeeds O_O) just some examples.

The crafting system is decent, nothing special really but adds a little depth. The items you can make are all useful too, some are better for some threats than others, but they can reward creativity.

The level design is really good, with VERY thoughtful placement of objects in the world for hiding. Some crafting items and ammo seemed to spawn randomly in containers and just out in the world (when I reloaded a game, items I had looted since the last save would be different). Some items seemed to always been the same ie. find a new gun and some ammo for it would often be nearby to give you a good start in using it. You sometimes visited areas more than once or backtracked, not too often, but just enough to remind you that you are on a space station and that your parth is not just from A to B, but rather to navigate one big environment.

And of course, the story. As a whole it had just enough to keep it interesting even if it was sometimes very predictible if you knew Alien very well. The predictible points aside, it was well put together, quite long and interesting, and I often felt invested in it. It made me, sad, angry, happy and of course scared among other things. It would play very well for a person who knows nothing about Alien too, it has a great deal of story to put together.

At the writing of this review (37 hours played) I have not encountered a single bug, just a few physics glitches.

Things that could be better:

The only 1 thing that really annoyed me about the game was at the beginning, there is an item which you could want very badly. Even if you manage to subdue a person with said item, and saw it laying right on the floor you could not pick it up!! It forced you to find this item by storyline. You get it very quickly so its not the worst thing ever, just annoying and frankly immersion breaking.

Another possible gripe is how you are led around sometimes feels a *little* too forced. Making me think "oh yes I must have to go this way" just based on how things were put together. This might just be because I have played a ton of games and might not really be noticable to other people.

Occasionally the physics got a little whacky and made bodies fall into the floor, or my flamethrower would seem to rattle a lot until I pulled it out, enemies didnt take notice to these things though.

On occasion the anti aliasing leaves more jaggy edges than it should.

I definately recommend this game, its a good solid stealth game set in a world with a rich story and the best in art design.
