What a disappointing piece of ♥♥♥♥. Absolute corporate cash grab shamelessly using the credit lent by the L4D series. Literally anything this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash tries to do L4D and L4D2 do leaps and bounds better. Don’t believe me? Watch Crowbcat’s video about this on YouTube. If you’re thinking about purchasing this please PLEASE don’t make the mistake I did and buy into the hope that something can recapture the magic of L4D or that Turtle Rock Studios has an ounce of talent or integrity. Just go buy L4D2 and enjoy that masterpiece that performs better in every conceivable way. I wish I could refund this absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a game. What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste.

EDIT(explanation):@sorcerious made some good points reference my lack of explanation about specific shortcomings of B4B. I will concede that pointing people toward a youtube video is a bit lazy vice explaining each shortcoming however it is because the video physically demonstrates each point better than i could explain it. That being said here are the things that L4D series does better than B4B off the top of my head:

AI/Gameplay: Both teammate and more importantly infected AI are just awful. I cant play a single portion (safehouse to safehouse) without one or more of my teammates freezing in place or simply not assisting in killing infected. Sure thats not a big deal if playing with real human beings which we all undoubtedly do more of but the infected AI is a huge issue. They do the same freezing in place, they fail to attack at times. and perhaps most glaringly the special spawns and hordes feel just "thrown in". Gone are the days of being ambushed at just the right time due to the magnificent AI director L4D has. Instead youll just see one of the web shooting specials (dont even remember the name since theyre so forgettable and dont stand out amongst the other infected) randomly hit a player while moving through an empty area and then follow up with.....nothing. it feels haphazard at best.

Immersion/Character: Again the youtube video does a much better job at illustrating this but more or less this game's characters/world/theme just feel hollow in comparison to L4D. The characters and their "quirks" are 2D and not fleshed out in the slightest, the amount of work put into the dynamic between the L4D survivors with their timely quips that are activated by location or other character's voicelines ironically give them more of a unique feel than B4B's who have things like unique perks/weapons/skins. The infected have loads more time and effort put into their animations and detail in L4D than B4B. In L4D they had mocap actors animate over 100 different dying animations for the common infected and it shows, B4B the infected just ragdoll. Certain locations have specific infected types that differ ever so slightly (ie. mudmen, clowns, riot police) and locations also feature more of a certain type of infected in order to give that location realism (office workers in offices, TSA at the airport, and cops on the streets) Alot of this sounds insignificant but when pieced together one really starts to see why L4D feels more immersive and plain entertaining than B4B

Weapons:Plain and simple L4D gives a clear role to every weapon in the repertoire, very significant differences that change the way the game is played. B4B everything feels pretty samey save for the difference between say an AA12 and a pump shotgun. I WILL admit that B4B did include the whole attachments thing which adds a layer to everything that i think was welcome and pretty well done. Now they just need to work on actually differing the weapons characteristics.

Mod Support: Now one may say this is unfair as L4D's modding community is very strong and has been around for years. Ok fine its not that L4D has better mods available, its that B4B doesnt have ANY. Furthermore they are on record as saying they dont plan on offering modding support. The community mods are one of the things that have contributed to the lifespan that L4D has, its such a slap in the face to the community and even more just a dumb decision as far as the game's lifespan. I suspect this was because they had their in game currency that offers skins and paid DLC so they dont want modders offering better things for free. But i suppose thats just speculation...

I will give B4B props for one thing:the cards. This system could be interesting if it is fleshed out a little bit more and made more interesting. This is a good example of trying to add to the core coop game play of L4D that is so successful. I commend them for trying and will admit that it is the one positive thing about this game (maybe except for weapon attachments which are a fun addition) If i had to give an actual numerical rating it'd be a 3/10
