Solid game for first playthrough. However:

While it may seem vast at first, it has less content than Skyrim. There may be a thousand of planets you can land on, but their content is reused - couple of same outposts, bases which you can hit for loot, which keep repeating.

Side quest lines are nice and decently long to keep you occupied. Main story also. Then there's a bazilion of small quests which tend to be bit boring - bring me this, go there, nothing interesting that sticks with you.

Space combat is fun, but arcadish and larger battles only happen with side quests, never on their own.

Overall, it's solid, fun game for first 1 or 2 playthroughs, with less content than Skyrim. You'll get your 50 hours of fun for sure, but don't expect too much.

There are some nice puzzles in this game, and it doesn't hold your hand, that's a plus. Storywise, it begins really interesting, and gets worse as it progresses, to an ending that's just meh and can be seen from miles away. Offers some outright stupid mechanics in some parts, like stealth that's just not really well done. However what I really despise about this game - jumpscares. There's WAAAAAY too many of them, cheapest & worst way to make a horror game. I'm cool when there are jumpscares in horror games, but not when they are everything there is & in such amount you can't turn around because you always expect something behind you. Also, add the Amnesia way of handling items (dragging ♥♥♥♥ with mouse), which I definitely not think is a good way to handle everything in game.

After today's patch, the game is finally playable, without horrible stuttering (which wasn't about having "potato pc", because it did that no matter your setup). I would love to change this review to positive, but sadly, I cannot, because I had enough. The game is as every bit as good as you remember it when you watched it on youtube back in the day, cursing playstation players that you can't play this gem too. There is nothing remotely bad about it, gameplay and storywise. But this has to STOP. The quality of this port, the fact that it was released broken, that I had to fix it with obscure arcana myself (had to put different Oodle library because it was packed with faulty, memory leaking one), that made me real dissapointed after all this waiting and left a sour taste. I paid for the product in full, thus I require it fully working. Shame on you, Iron Galaxy, for letting this out in this broken state, and shame on you, Sony, for not guarding your flagship! You done let me down. This malpractice of companies releasing broken trash has to stop, us customers aren't your laughing stock.

Early Access Review
Addictive as hell. Just one more fight! And one more! And just one more! ... and suddenly it's 2 am.

Cool shooter. Nice guns, it reminds me of old days when games were simple and you took joy in moving down enemies, had same feelings here. Interesting story. All in all, okay game. However, there is one MASSIVE problem with this game - large distances to cover and NO SPRINT BUTTON. Seriously, how could this go through testers without noticing this glaring gameplay issue?? There's a LOT of travelling in this game and you're forced to jog it, slowly, and the fast travel doesn't help that much. Drags the game down very, very, very. It would be okay 7-8/10 game if you could sprint, this way it's barely 6. Other than that, it is decent.

It's like someone wanted to make a space game of their dreams, and quit after 1/3 of their work. If you're autistic nerd that lives with made-with-low-effort grind, this game is perfect for you. If you're average gamer that seeks fun and gameplay, it's worth for 100 hours, by then you'll see how bland & shallow the game is. There is so much potential in this game, let alone since Odyssey update, but devs don't care and output 0.1% of their capabilities, keeping the game on life support. Community is full of elitist nerds that are blind to the fact the game is shallow as a puddle, and will desced upon you screaming if you dare to suggest tiny QoL addition, defending this mess with their lives, unable to see their game is dying and needs new blood. It's 10 years old, so what? Give it new mechanics, deepen the existing ones, and it'll boom like nothing else. Continue to take a massive ♥♥♥♥ on it, and let Braben scratch his head why no one wants to play his life's work. Also - DO NOT EVER state unpopular opinion here in steam forums as it will get you banned. I got permaban for stating what troubles the game numerous times. Censoring bad views, that's uncool even for you, Frontier Developments.

It is fun, it is dark, it is beautiful. It is something different. It's also rather short, but you'll have enough when you're at the end. I'm glad I played this game.

They have did put a lot of work into it, made it from a failure at launch to a decent game it is now. It's not a redemption arc as it is still not a game that was promised, but it's a decent game now that will captivate 1st time player. Too bad I was among many others that played this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ since launch, could've saved myself the dissapointment.

Early Access Review
It's probably the most realistic zombie survival simulator on market so far, and one of those endless early access titles that will never be finished, yet devs will not quit upon. It's an indie project updated about.. yearly or so, and from 2012 it has come a long way. If you're itching for a survival game that makes you feel the desperation of zombie apocalypse, it's worth it, even in its forever unfinished state. Protip: get a npc mod named Superb Survivors, otherwise you'll have lonely experience in regards to human contact, as npcs are not yet implemented.
